Central Market in Fort Worth has plenty. Call Central Market ask them when they'll have it and/or to order some for you.

Tell me more about $1 Stone IPAs please.

Petrol Station did a customer appreciation day and sold Stone IPAs for $1 a pint.

They posted this on Facebook on the 26th for that day: "In appreciation of our customers ability to drink $1 stone ipa 6pm-?"

It lasted for about an hour and a half. That's when they ran out. On Friday they posted "Ipa day in 6 days." Not sure what that means yet.

The latest from Petrol Station:

quote:
As some of you may know, this Thursday 8/4 is international ipa day and of course as the most bitter bar in America we are not doing anything...except putting a **** ton of badass ipa on tap and simultaneously tapping three firkins of ipa.

Read on line last night that Widmer was phasing out Broken Halo. Could not find any in my go to beer store today.

Drinking this instead.

It will suffice.

Edit: Oh and happy IPA day to everyone!

Oh how my favorite beers have changed since I turned 21.

Apache

Sierra Nevada Tumbler "Autumn Brown" &
Shiner Oktoberfest are both on the shelves.
Also saw RealAle's Oktoberfest.

Tumbler is a great friggin' beer if ya'll haven't had it. Think Abita Turbodog or RealAle's Brewhouse Brown.

I drank a couple on the back porch Saturday about 10:00AM after mowing.

I have a hard time finding Widmer's Broken Halo up here in WA. Most of the stores just don't have it. Weird, since it's considered "local". Oh well, for Oregon-based IPA's, I tend towards Deschutes and Bridgeport (bottle conditioned!).

I think I mentioned it earlier in this thread but I really like the Widmer X-114 IPA. I guess they are starting an IPA series which I think this is the first of that.

Had my first Harpoon Leviathan Imperial
IPA last night. Awesome beer.

Had a beer from (yet another) new Austin brewery: Extra Pale Ale from Austin Beerworks.
It was ok, on par with some of the lesser St. Arnold & RealAle offerings. Interestingly, they are choosing to can their stuff instead of bottling.
If my count is right, this is the 7th brewery in Austin joining these:
512
Live Oak
Circle Brewing Co.
Jester King
Thirsty Planet
Independence

Am I missing any?

Anyone seen DFH Punkin Ale yet?

IsleAg - Gabriel's in San Antonio has the DFH Punkin Ale. I would assume other places also have it.

haven't been in this thread in a while but i've had a ton more beers since i have. me and some friends jumped on the obannons tour finally - and before anyone says it, yes i know it's got nothing on better tours like the Flying Saucer, but they have decent deals and it's what we've got in CS

some new favorites...
youngs double chocolate stout
maredsous 8
lawnmower (idk how i've never had it before)
stone ruination
bellhaven

i also had some breck vanilla porter on tap for the first, dear god it was delicious

i think right now my favorite IPA is the ruination, it just barely beats out DFH60. i saw someone up-thread posted ranger ipa, that's not bad either

Was in Portland helping a younger cousin get moved into Reed University. That city is unbelievable for beer, there's something like 20odd craft breweries in the area.

Favorites would have to be out of Bridgeport. An IPA that might be the best I've ever had and an Imperial IPA called the Hop Czar that came in a 22oz bottle.

Tried lost gold IPA this weekend from blanco brewery. Decent taste but packs quite a punch after the smooth and tasty Octoberfest from St Arnold's in Houston.

20? hah, try about 60. And that's 60 unique brewpubs and breweries.

The city has the highest brewery per capita in the US.

Seattle, Denver are close seconds.

That's why I've visited it twice in the last 1.5 years with some buddies. It the mecca for beer lovers and plenty of great things to do (white water rafting, hiking, etc) as well!!

Picked up some DFH Punkin Ale and Brooklyn Oktoberfest this weekend. Anyone know when the Saint Arnold Pumpkinator (DR9) might be available? Didn't get to try it before and am really looking forward to it.

I picked up these two at Central Market on Friday.

FYI...Central Market is having their Brewtopia again starting this week. http://moreplease.centralmarket.com/cm-news/meet-famous-brewmasters-at-brewtopia-september-14-27/

Real Ale 15th Anniversary -
quote:
A MAJESTIC ALE FOR A MONUMENTAL OCCASION This noble brew evolved from its common cousins, porter and stout, by necessity to endure the long voyage to the Russian royal court. Colossal additions of American hops are used to balance the robust malt character and infuse this ale with their distinctly citrus-like qualities. 15th Anniversary ale can be consumed now or laid down for later enjoyment. Take some home to share with friends and family at your court.

ABV: 9.8% IBU: 70.00 OG (plato): 22.00

And from one of my favorite breweries...

Deschuttes - Black Butte XXIII
quote:
XXIII. Porter 11%ABV | IBUs 55
So where to next? What's 2011's rich, imperial take on Black Butte Porter? Just for kicks, you dream. Orange zest perhaps? From Spanish Oranges. Seville, to be exact. And Chocolate nibs. Pampered nibs from the artisanal alchemists at Theo. Maybe some chilies? Pasilla Negra only, please. That would be crazy wouldn't it? Welcome to crazy. Get it while you can.

I am very anxious to try this one. I plan to try one now and then cellar the other.
