If the river really crests 37 feet at Spring Branch, it will be way way over the highway at the Guadalupe river bridge on 281. The 281 bridge would seem to be in jeopardy.

It will be 10' underwater. River is already at 37 at Bergheim. Has come up 32' in less than 2 hours.

How high is the bridge. Drive over it a few hours ago and water level was normal.

Do you know if it got above the 3351 bridge? That would be incredible if it did.

They are saying around 27 feet. Last major flood got up to that level. This time it is supposed to crest at 37 feet tonight.

No idea. I am just south of there near 3351 and 46, but haven't seen anything about 3351. Sisterdale crossing went underwater. They just said Bergheim Ammons Crossing gauge is at 39.5' right now.

LCRA should, I stress, should, be aware of the cfm flow of the Llano upstream of LBJ and start letting water out of LBJ to compensate for it. Travis is extremely low so they can move a lot of water down the Highland Lake chain right now without the risk of flooding Town Lake etc.
The Colorado and San Saba rivers are flooding, but again, Lake Buchanan is so low right now it can handle lots of water before LCRA needs to open gates at Buchanan letting water into Inks or LBJ.
However, sometimes LCRA miscalculates and things get messed up.
Just keep an eye on things.
Just look back at the flooding of the fall of 2018 and how the flooding from Llano to Marble Falls to Lake Travis was managed to see the difficulties of controlling lake levels with so much water flowing into and out of the chain lake systems.

LCRA River systems
You missed the part about us not having guages and the rain bomb was downstream of Llano. I've seen them happen on the Guadalupe and looking at the aftermath and noticed the grass along River Road was laid straight down hill, all of it. I've talked to people who have had 32 inches of rain in a day.

These storms happen every few years and they're in a a fairly small area with many rivers that drain the area. If it happens on the Guadalupe, don't hear about it in Austin. San Antonio probably didn't hear about the one near Marble Falls that rained 4 in an hour for over 4 hours. It's a very small spot that gets an unbelievable amount of water really quick and you can't predict exactly where and how much. I'm not even sure someone can predict when, but I have a few people I listen to the set up was right to have the possibility of a rain bomb yesterday.

They are expecting the San Saba river to crest near SA Saba at 32 feet. That's 6' higher than the flood they had back in the 50's which was at 26' from what the old timers have told me.
They also just reported on SA weather that parts of Mason County had 20+ inches but an avg. of over 14".
Buchanan should more than fill up.

About a year after the Wimberley flood I saw a presentation from GBRA on lessons learned. One of their guys said as soon as the rainfall data went into their model the river was already higher than their models. The modelling wasn't keeping up with the weather. These types of storms are very unpredictable, and the modelling is as much art as it is science.

My parents have a lake house on Brady Lake and we've seen a bunch of footage of water just pouring into the lake. I've been watching and it's coming up about a foot an hour. It was something like 16' low and is now only around 7' low.

The new bridge on 281 over the Guadalupe River is 70' above normal flows. I can't see the river getting up high enough to go over that bridge.
I may be wrong, but I just googled the height of that bridge and that's the height it gave me.

It crested at 45.25' at Spring Branch in 1978. We were living on the river and our place was downstream from the 281 Bridge but about 2 miles upstream from Rebecca Creek crossing. At 10:00 that night we moved what we could out of our house and stayed the night in my uncles house about 1/4 mile from our house but about 50' higher elevation.
Our back porch elevation was around 45-47' above normal river. It got into our house over 4' so it was estimated that it crested about 51' at the Rebecca Creek crossing.
It just got to the roadway of the 281 bridge that night.

In 1998 it crested at about 28' at Spring Branch.
