Guessing you've never been to the rodeo, the carnival is jammed up. Sometimes you can't even walk through it because there are so many people there.

meh been many times yucking it up with peasants at the Carnival is not something I voluntarily do, i just pass on the whole thing .
How bad is the carnival nowadays? Haven't been since probably 2012. I have amazing memories from the carnival of the 80's and 90's...but obviously we are much more "third world" now. Would like to take my kid if there are any tips on days when it's not "as bad"? Is it always just a complete cluster F now?
just go earlier in the day...and not on a "free day" or during Houston Spring Break.

Leaving the concert semi-hammered, sorry not sorry but I can't walk through the carnival without trying to make a couple 3-pointers or knock over some milk bottles. The only difference between me and a 10 year old is I have money to waste on games.

Same. I wish some on here could have experienced the carnival as an 80's kid. Strapping into a big boy ride scared for your life while "Girl You Know It's True" or "Escapade" blares in the background. Excalibur and Texas Cyclone and Sky Screamer poppin off in the background, a quarter mile away. The smell of spilled beer, cigs and pipe smoke wafting through the dome.
So no one is selling this year?

By far my best rodeo experience was at a BBQ tent at the Pasadena rodeo once.
Turns out, my company has tickets available for several of the tents. How do I choose which one? Like, I know the booze and BBQ will be good everywhere, but what about the music, crowd vibe? Is there a list of the entertainment in the tents, and is it better to go on Friday or Saturday night?
Any tent / team bringing in good bands will have a flyer with the bands for each night for their sponsors. Just ask what the lineups are.
Here's to hoping the weather outside right now will be what happens for 3 nights of Cookoff.

What does the Trailblazer committee do actually? I always see children books fundraising and a bunch of women doing catwalks. Other than that, what else is going on? Every year I see a big colorful party with only women. Not trying to hate, but i always see a big female gala online

We'll be there on Saturday with my son competing. We took last year off due to some circumstances out of our control, but we're glad to be back this year. The trail competition for my son's division seems really hard, but he'll give it his best. We won't be in the grand entry or at team awards since there are only 2 in his riding club, and he has a test at school on Friday.

Honestly the HLSR needs to get rid of their webmaster or whoever is in charge. Worst website around. We are just weeks from the rodeo and no calendar available. I really want to attend the Ranch Rodeo, but have no idea if the date so I can't block the time.
What do you boys want for breakfast BBQ ?.....OK Chili.

What time?
Starts about 1PM on Friday and will go til around 6, then 8AM Saturday till all the events are over, usually around 4-5PM.
you shouldn't have to GOOGLE it. You should have the schedule on the website, which they do not have in any form that is easy to find.
