you shouldn't have to GOOGLE it. You should have the schedule on the website, which they do not have in any form that is easy to find.

and just tried the search function on the website and it does not show up.

OK - I finally found it on the website - you only have to click on four links to get to the schedule. I stand by my assertion that it's a terrible website.

OK, I see that you are old since you put double spaces between periods. Navigating websites via intuitive design to obtain information has not been a thing for about 15-20 years.

Even internet searching is old news with the rise of conversational chat bots. These free services are not up to date and not to be relied on for super current information. Search engines are not dead by any stretch but more and more people are turning to conversation AI chat assistants to obtain information rather than searching or having an expectation that web design will always be relevant in this day and age.

I do notice the schedule for the ranch rodeo -- which really isn't that hard to find -- is stored in a folder indicating it was scheduled sometime in Oct 2025 due to the NCHA circuit being a pretty big deal. In all likelihood the info you wanted has been out there due to a large horse show event preceding it for about 4 months.

You can claim it is a bad website all you want but realize a very small portion or HLSR attendees are looking for the horse events and ranch rodeo. Therefore whatever website navigation you feel you are entitled to likely doesn't move the needle.

And that outlook is fair, but it also can be viewed that the rodeo views that many of their events aren't worth growing in attendance as how is one going to look up an event they don't even know exists. The vast majority of the people that enter the rodeo grounds know just about nothing about rodeo and livestock shows and rather than giving a proper shot at attracting new eyeballs or interest, it has felt like many rodeo events are for insiders or those in the know only and the majority only needs to know about the show at stadium. Perhaps thats on purpose.

One week til Cookoff!!

In the meantime, this Friday and Saturday at NRG Arena is the Top Hands Horse Show, a riding competition for people with special needs. It is a great event and something that doesn't get enough press. Please come out and cheer on the riders!

Always a great time; will be up there Saturday.

good god its starting, always hate that concert attraction thing they call a rodeo

You sound like a lot fun

I usually am, but the amount of b***s*** i have to deal with during this month is terrible. HLSR doesnt care about kids, theyre a rodeo concert disguised as a 501c3.
I live in waco....therefore, I am ready to move elsewhere.

I think the bigger picture is HLSR gets you when you buy your ticket to the grounds. There is no charge for the horse show, ranch rodeo, art auction, etc etc.

Once they get the revenue from your grounds ticket they DGAF what events you go to unless it's the carnival (where you spend money) and inside NRG (where you spend money).

I guess I'm an old; I expected the calendar linked on the main page to have calendar items on it.

Seems pretty basic, and every other fair & rodeo website lists the daily events on the front page. Most of us who grew up in the area grew up going to the daytime events, and some grew up exhibiting or competing in them. Parents with kids are interested in them, and so are some olds.

Just for the hell of it, I asked Chatgpt for the ranch rodeo schedule, and I got a long list of descriptions followed by a link to the empty* calendar: https://www.rodeohouston.com/calendar/

*no offense to Metro Go Texan.

I'm starting to think some of these types of posts are subsidized by Texags to drive engagement.

I wish they would put all the events like that on the calendar. Instead of putting nothing on the calendar.

What time?

Starts about 1PM on Friday and will go til around 6, then 8AM Saturday till all the events are over, usually around 4-5PM.

Starting earlier this year. Grand entry at 9:30AM.

Some of us are real, in-the-flesh cowpokes though. I grew up in Spring Branch in the 80's and 90's, just for some reference.

Genuinely curious as to what "BS" you have to deal with during the rodeo? Extra traffic? Clients begging you to take them?

Where were the Spring Branch cowboys in the 90s? Even Katy was becoming less country by that point.

Dude there were large herds of cattle just inside the beltway and the last feed lot was where Memorial City Mall was located. I remember it like it was yesterday!

I know there were cow pastures around beltway and clay not too long ago (mid 2000s), but I wouldnt say 90s spring branch was "country" despite one mall literally being named town and country.

Is there a better option between OST and 610 lot? Or should I be doing some other location and riding the metro in?

F that 610 lot. All traffic seems to go into one entrance on Belfort. If it's anything like Cookoff traffic, I would avoid 610 lot. We sat in line on the street for 30+ minutes around 5pm on Thursday for cookoff. Last year, same thing. I think the quickest is park and ride, taking metro bus. If I go back, I'm parking at Braeswood and 610 metro lot and taking the bus.
