TSS counted that Honduras spend 9 minutes in the 2nd half being "stretchered" off the field.

Yeah, WB was so bad that it's almost impossible to be sure of how good/bad Sargent really is. He's a very promising talent but that's pretty much as far as you can go so far.

There is a great defensive midfielder who spent his whole career in the Bundesliga - Alfredo Morales.
He's played under Berhalter and didn't impress. He's also much older than and Acosta. Anyone else?
He has done fine in the very limited time he's been given.

He's older than Acosta and Yueill but a much better player. These days it's no issue for a defensive midfielder to play into their early 30s.

And you say he didn't impress and therefore shouldn't be considered, but why do Acosta and Yueill get to continue playing when they have failed to impress?

How did Yueill and Acosta even get into the team in the first place?

That's debatable. Morales is better in some areas and worse in other areas than Yueill and Acosta. Given the fact they have the same level of strengths and weakness (albeit in different areas), I'd go with the younger options as they are still continuing to develop.

I'm guessing there is no VAR for the Nations League as that would've been reviewed and a card should've been given.

Once we had the lead, I was ok with the 5 minutes added on. If we had been tied, I would've been livid.

The thing is that Acosta and Yueill won't just magically develop all of a sudden into players who have the quality to play on the national team. These are players who simply aren't good enough and don't need to be called up.

Actually VAR is available. CONCACAF refs just refuse to use it

So you don't think a 24 yr old will get better but a 30 yr old with same overall level of contribution to the team is a better solution?

We'll just have to agree to disagree that Morales is a better option than Yueill and or Acosta.

I've said it before but everyone needs to take a wait and see approach with Sargent. Dude scored 5 goals in the Bundesliga. I know WB sucked but damn he doesn't pass the eye test either yet he keeps getting mentioned.

Not sure who said it but I want Dike to get a chance.

Morales may be an option and I hope he gets to go to camp. Yueill just isn't there. I think Adams starting and Morales/Acosta as backup is fine.

What sucks too is that we have a crappy head coach and he needs to be fired.

I dont know why we're having this conversation anyway. Morales plays in MLS so he sucks now in mrmill3218 logic.

I don't watch the USMNT much, mainly EPL, Champions League and USWNT. Started watching 20 minutes in and my main takeaway was "Good lord! How many times is #14 going to send a 25 yard pass straight to a defender!"

The maddening thing about Yuell is his positioning when we had the ball. His lack of awareness of where the space was for him to provide an option to McKenzie and Brooks was shocking. He was just happy to essentially hide behind the two forward Hondurans when all he needed to do was move about 10 feet or so to open things up. If the Hondurans go with him, then it opens it up more for Brooks/McKenzie. If they don't he's a central outlet to advance the ball. I think it just bogged everything down with him being a black hole in the possession. I'm not saying it's the only issue the US had, but it contributed.

Of course...as someone else said, he was also passing straight back to the CBs way too much when he did touch the ball, so my point might be moot anyway.

Can we get our coach to wear something better than a damn t shirt? How bout just a nice athletic polo? Not saying he has to be Tom Landry out there, but the t shirt has gotta go.

Spain's coach is wearing a white tee. #fashionboard

I watched the second half and noticed the same thing. Well, maybe we are all wrong and Gregg is on the cutting edge of all things football.

The MLS quota will keep Lletget and Yueill in the team even though they should be nowhere near any national team.
I dont know what I think of Yueil, but Lletget could play in a European league. You're MLS schtick is one of the dumbest things on this website. You went away for a while and it was nice, it is too bad you are back.

Go watch the set pieces that Lletget squandered and tell me he could play in the prem. Pretty unlikely.

he never said the EPL, he said "A" European league
oh no
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Not prem, but 2nd tier in some European countries and 1st tier in some smaller countries is not out of the question.
Aggies1322
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Sure. Maybe 2nd tier europe.. the dude really isn't all that talented. He chips balls to the back post when we have runners attacking the front post and middle of the goal. Its like he can't read things situationally. Yueill will drive balls that need to be chipped. Similar issue imo. They don't adapt to the situation. Lletget is very adept at being in the right spot so good on him there. Positioning is huge in sports.

Eta- i am not necessarily even mad that he gets called up.. but if we're being honest a teenager DOES play in a top European league (not a 2nd tier) and was sitting behind him in Musah. Thats inexcusable imo.

It's not a schtick. SUM means that MLS owners have controlled the national team. Do you think they're going to let 11 European based players start for the national team? It would look terrible for their league. They want to be able to market that their players play on the national team. "Come see so and so play..."

MLS and USSF have been too intertwined for too long and it has created issues like this. Thankfully SUM and USSF are not renewing their partnership.

I have nothing against MLS. I like it and watch it whenever it's on. But their partnership with USSF has created a conflict of interest at the very least. And it's why you see guys like Jackson Yueill and Sebastian Lletget starting in these game when they just frankly aren't good enough.

I think a 30 year old player who can contribute is better than a 24 year old who looks completely lost and terrible every time he plays is a better option, yes. Jackson Yueill may get a little bit better, but he will never be national team quality. If he is playing the way he is for us at 24, it's pretty easy to come to that conclusion and stop calling him up.

But like you said, we'll just have to agree to disagree that Morales is a better option.

We hired a guy who has never won anything and had a .500 record in MLS.

He was hired because of his brother and the sooner we get rid of him the better.

There are a lot of players that can't take good set pieces, that are very talented in other ways.

I have no idea why they would think he should be taking them, because he is not good at it.

I think it's even funnier that T&T were eliminated because they drew vs the freaking Bahamas...the Bahamas first result in WC qualifying in like three cycles

Does Trinidad have any players anymore? They used to have a handful of eligible players in the top few levels in England who might show up in a team, but i cant think of any now. Who are their best players now?
