This team is so cooked lol

That's game. We're not scoring today.

Team just looks spent and justifiably so. Not a single shot attempt in the first half.

And apparently we don't want to mark the tallest dude on the pitch

That hurts like homer in the top of the 9th

We've played nine more games than Newcastle, basically starting the same 11 week in and week out, and it looks like it. Again, I understand that Slot doesn't rate some of these bench guys, and he'll be shipping them out and bringing in his own this summer, but good lord man you're killing this team.

I hate paramount. Feed froze right when he scored and now I can't get it back on.

Yep, and we are paying for it at the end of the year. No trusted depth, rotation and all these games = fading at the end of the season.

Was a pretty damn poor effort from Kelleher, imo. Ali saves that.

Yeah, a great header but was far out and Kell was flat footed on it

I do not for the life of me understand why Slot has abandoned the 4-2-4. It was working so well for us. At least mix it in if a strategy isn't' working.

I'm not confident in us being able to score this half. Also not confident an energy drink with a motor oil looking logo could make a decent beer.

This game is over over. Slot better find a way to get some energy into this team for the final leg of the season.

Who are Newcastle playing? Bc Liverpool certainly haven't shown up to Wembley today

Complete arse whooping. Thank goodness we have 12 pt lead for the PL as we may need all of it

The midfield is just brutal right now. The forward line stinks too, but Gravenberch has been awful for multiple weeks now, Szbo has been invisible, and Maca is just overran.

So now we bring in Chiesa ?? lol

Just not a good week for Liverpool against oil rich state owned clubs

No clue why Jones and Elliott didn't start this game, let alone come on at half.

Elliott not playing all year was a big mistake by Slot…and honestly Chiesa too. Like we have all said, the lack of trust and rotation is causing them to fall of a cliff in March again.

1 goal from free play in the last 3 games plus 30 minutes extra time. Team is just dead at all levels.

That's a goal for Chiesa. One of the best players for us today. More questions for Slot…

The kinda good news (but not really?) is that we don't have another game until April 2. Bad news is that there's an international break....

Our giveadamn was broke today. No idea if it was due to exhaustion or coming down off a CL exit or something else, but we just looked disinterested for most of the match. Definitely agree that our lack of rotation is hurting us. Too late to fix it now, but hopefully Slot realizes his mistake and moves forward differently this next season.

And the first injury of the international break is in!

Ryan Gravenberch has withdrawn from the Netherlands squad due to injury

I'll be honest, he's been crap for over a month, so if it's anyone he's one that I'd pick for a break.
hoosierAG

I read where it said it was something he sustained over the weekend....so from the cup final? Maybe I read that wrong. Elliott had a severe limp leaving that game as well....not that Slot would play him again anyways....
Tksymm7

I don't mean to crap on Gravenberch either. He's been one of our top 3 most important players this season, but just pointing out what I believe to true in that he's been below par for over a month now (mostly because he's been run into the ground imo).
jeffk
How long do you want to ignore this user?

Yeah, he's never played anywhere close to this many minutes before.

We need Cody Gakpo back so bad.

Becker left Brazil squad after collision….sounds like concussion.

Read where Grav left for precautionary reasons and should be fine

And Konate was withdrawn in the first half after it was suspected he picked up a knock.

The international break. The awful gift that just keeps on giving.

On mobile so I can't link to the article itself, but Sky Sports are reporting that a deal for TAA to Real Madrid is "confirmed."

"The report by Sky Sports journalist Sacha Tavolieri states that the move taking Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid is 'settled' - with the Liverpool star's agents having reached an agreement on personal terms with the Champions League holders. It's thought that Alexander-Arnold will move to Real on a five-year contract, beginning in July, when his Liverpool deal comes to an end.

His new deal stands to be much more lucrative than his current Anfield contract, with Tavolieri stating that Alexander-Arnold could earn 4million (3.4million) more than at his boyhood club, with a total wage of 15million (12.5m) per year - equivalent to 240,000-per-week - at the La Liga giants."

Really is a shame. I think Liverpool could have found 240k/week to keep him around but his attitude has kind of left much to be desired this season, tbh.

I think he would have been held in the same regard as Gerrard and Dalglish when his career was done if he had stayed. Instead, he's another Owen, McManaman. Great players that left in poor circumstances and Liverpool fans want little to do with now.

The Mount Rushmore of Liverpool greats is now:
Stevie G
Kenny Dalglish
Mo Salah
Ian Rush
Ray Clemence

Yeah I tend to agree, and for as good as he is passing the ball and going forward, he's equally as poor and lackadaisical in defending at times. I wish him the best, and fully acknowledge we might not be as good without him, but I'm willing to take that risk. I'm not wiling to take that risk with VVD and Mo Salah, however.

All of this is where I am as well. I don't have any I'll will towards him. I wish the club could have kept him. I think he's making the wrong decision but time will tell. But I don't think the world going to end. I think trying to replace mo and vvd this summer plus the other work that needs to be done would be impossible.

Well said by both and couldn't agree more. TAA has obvious moments of brilliance that single handedly change the game and directly lead to goals/wins. But for the last year and a half it feels like he has been non existent 90% of the time and a down right liability on D (and has given a ton of passes away too). Regardless, wish he was staying and would feel a lot better if Bradley wasn't made of glass (so far) but he has had one foot out the door for a while now and time to move on.

But you can't lose VVD and MO while Liverpool does a pretty significant reset it looks like (I'll believe it when I see it with FSG).
