Wharton and Anderson are the two guys and only choices imo. They fit the mold of when Liverpool buy guys, but they are also home grown which we need in a massive way. They are however, two quite different players. A bit of what I talked about in my original post tbh.

Wharton is sit back CDM that excels in advancing the ball with his left foot. He can break lines by going over and through them. He's also very press resistant and very good winning the ball back.

Anderson on the other hand is an energetic No. 6 that plugs up gaps, runs hard all over the field and will find himself in the box more often.

I think they are both exceptional players, and I have been an Anderson guy for most of this season, but the more I see what I think we need the more I lean towards Wharton being a better player for Liverpool.

Not the easiest path (that distinction goes to Arsenal), but not the worst. If we get past Galatasaray and likely PSG, we'd probably face the winner of Man City - Bayern Munich in the semis. A tough route to Budapest.

We got the better first game but a way harder quarter and semi-final. I think it might be good though. We seem to really play a lot better against the big clubs and play down to the smaller clubs.

West ham has some real attacking threat. Kinda felt like they'd get one or so. Again, pace is such a great equalizer.

I enjoyed the second half of that game. We had Frimpong on one wing and Rio on the other. It was nice to have some real speed on the wings for once.

Last thing; the more I watch Adam Wharton the more I think he might be the type of player this team is missing. He is so great at gathering the ball, picking the next pass correctly and putting it where it needs to be. Whether that is a simple short pass, a targeted through ball, over or under etc. he's extremely good at it.

He's still a work in progress when it comes to the game in and around the box imo, but inside his own half he's about as good as it gets.

If Palace don't go down a man today that game probably is a draw at worst. If we can get Wirtz on the field and keep Frimpong healthy I think we're better than United and Chelsea. It won't be pretty necessarily but I think we can do it. Villa are also falling like an asteroid entering the atmosphere.

We have all said this before, but the PL is awful right now from a play perspective. It's rugby out there and it's nothing but set pieces and throw ins. They have got to do something about it.

As far us, again I will take points any way we can get them...but our issues/flaws remain the same. We are who are. Weird to say, but that was an ugly 5-2 win. That was an even match in a lot of ways, but we created a lot of ops and got lucky with 3 deflections for goals. Extremely fortunate to come away with 6 pts these last 2 games.

Somehow, someway stay in the top 5 and get CL. Make a decision on Slot one way or another by end of year, and get 2 wingers with pace and CM at a minimum. Fortunately, Villa and Chelsea all are sliding with their own issues and the rest of the league, while dangerous any given day, is a bunch of meh.

This wasn't called a handball nor a penalty. Crazy.

Ridiculous and happens every week. The PGMOL, VAR, redefining rules weekly, lack of any consistency and allowing rugby style football is just killing the quality of play. Players, coaches, everyone is calling it out. Has to change.

Well they did score on the corner so it balanced out, but as an Arsenal fan I was very surprised that didn't get called. I don't understand the handball rule in the PL at all

I'm not even mad at Arsenal either. Genuinely. It's just the state of the league as a whole and that is about as picture perfect an example as it gets. Between boxes it's pretty standard stuff, but in the boxes it's hand to hand combat that has been allowed to go way beyond the game.

Rice has his arms completely wrapped around the Chelsea player inhibiting his ability to get on the ball and flick it on. On top of that Rice chicken wings the ball in the air while committing a foul and NOTHING is called? Come on referee and VAR GET REAL.
