I think they better have. Its clear that the injury is worse than what they said last week. Last week it was "precautionary" and he could have continued playing. This week, he isn't even in the squad. Not even in a "break glass incase of emergency" role.


There is no way to have an "emergency" in this game

Losing this game would be an emergency. We lose this game and a Paraguay-Turkey draw creates the possibility of us finishing 4th in the group.


So the emergency is that losing this game could cause us to lose all future games? My point is that there will never be a situation in this game where a coach would be like "we have to risk that calf right now!"

I think I agree. If he was good enough for emergency use, than I think you would just start him and plan to sub him out some point.
