We need to keep pouring it on in the 2nd. Pressure seems to undo them a bit. Put their defenders in binds and they don't look quick enough to react well.
God loves you so much He'll meet you where you are. He also loves you too much to allow to stay where you are.

2 -0 in a good but not great half. Some shaky passes in the back.

LFG! Question, I am a soccer novice but at the restaurant I thought I saw a glimpse of Aussie player accidentally kick into own goal earlier. Did that happen? If so, why didn't it count?

He did, and it did. Own goal.

Ah ok my bad, I thought we scored point 1 on our own. Missed the first game and must have misread updates. Carry on.

If we can keep this goal differential, we are in amazing shape to win the group with any of the following:
- Turkiye loss/tie to Paraguay
- US win/tie vs Turkiye
- Aussie win vs Paraguay (where GD could come into play)

best way to keep a clean sheet is to keep pinning them in and scoring

Sometimes the best defense is a good offense...

We are not as dynamic without him.

Balogun and Pepi did a great job of mixing up their positioning and runs.
McKennie continuing to be all over the place on the field.
Tillman and balo combo play
Dest and Mckennie

its everywhere

I love how we executed that set piece. We did what Turkiye didn't do. They'd have treated that like Route One or just a cross and pray while we played it back into space, got their defense running forward, and their momentum had them out of position on that shot/deflection. It was a lucky bounce but the US created the opportunity to get a lucky bounce.

Set piece was amazing. Anytime you get a free full octane kick on goal good things happen.

How in the world did this team beat Turkey?! They're awful

Just keep 17 people in the box and have their NBA player win defensive headers

Don't have to worry about Irankaunda pacing past Ream if the ball is always on their side of the pitch

Doesn't matter in the end, but I don't think Freeman actually made contact with the ball on the second goal. I've watched the replay several times and I think the keeper punches it into the net just before Freeman would've made contact.

Turkey lacks size so you need clinical passing in tight spaces which they did not get.

If we keep this goal diff (implying we win), this is all it takes to win the group.

We will effectively lock up the top spot with a +2 or better goal differential today. Turkey won't be able to attain a better goal differential even if we lose to them barring an extreme outlier game. Them beating Paraguay by 3+ goals and then us by multiple goals would really be the only realistic path and that sequence of events is extremely unlikely.

Aussie is sure to sub on winger #17. He was a dangerous goal scorer vs the Turks

Well Turkey could thump Paraguay.

Keeping the goal differential, this is the only realistic scenario I see for us to finish 2nd in group:
-Turkiye beats Paraguay and USA
-Paraguay ties/wins vs Aussie

First tiebreaker would be H2H

There's still an entire half left, but at this point, I'm glad we kept him out. Australia is playing pretty rough and reckless.

Sure, but winning two consecutive world cup games by a combined 5+ goals as a non-world power is extremely unusual. Especially if one of the games isnt against a layup African nation.

Basically we feel like the ball deep in their end, even if in their possession, is good for us cause we can get it back. Basically make them work and try to get the ball and create a chance.
