Josh Howard was on the verge of that level for a few years, would have been interesting to see what happens if 2006 wasnt stolen from us and he had his need for weed under control

It’s the 2027 draft lottery:
— Art Cummings (@ArtTakesNote) May 22, 2026
(Memphis owns the most favorable of UTA/CLE/MIN firsts and Utah owns the second most favorable)
- Utah’s pick jumps up to #1
- Cleveland’s or Minnesota’s pick jumps up to #5
*Memphis doesn’t get to keep the #1 pick*
Utah’s pick gets moved to #6.… https://t.co/bym2YAvGdx

Can’t land good picks because of flattened odds. Can’t trade picks because no team wants to do it anymore. Can’t trade for players because no one wants to trade picks. Can’t sign free agents because of the aprons. Adam Silver has killed all team building in the NBA

You ain't wrong. The NBA is just a mess.
All of these salary rules and aprons, along with seriously increased salaries, have killed trading for star players or signing them in free agency. So teams have honed in on picks and building through the draft. Now these stupid draft lottery rules are going to kill building through the draft, so doing anything feels impossible. What a mess.
It's why one route or another, this offseason is critical for the Mavs.

I think the biggest problem in the NBA is the ridiculous flopping, not tanking. Why doesn't the NBA try to do something about that? SGA falls on 17% of all shot attempts, It makes the whole sport look ridiculous. Either refs should stop calling fouls, or this stuff needs to be handled in after film review with fines and suspensions. If you are out to trick refs then it should cost something.

I think they need to stop calling fouls the way fouls are currently given. After the All Star break in 24, there was a noticeable difference in the number of fouls called and the type of foul given. They allowed a bit more contact down low, which I like. You could see Lively became more effective after the change occurred. No idea why they went back to allowing the minor stuff and foul grifting when the 24-25 season started.
I think that's the best way to combat the flopping. Just stop giving the minor contact fouls, especially when drives to the basket are clearly out of control or have an insane forward body lean.
I'd love for there to be in game penalties for flopping, but then we'd probably end up with longer games as refs will go to the monitor to review if a player flopped or was fouled more. It's probably something that would have to be handled post game with a very public fine which basically serves the purpose of shaming the player.

This also describes Harden's time in Houston.

Yeah, Harden is by far the biggest beneficiary of the SGA discourse.
Harden walked so Shai could run.
