Agee looks like a very quality depth piece. Good addition for Bucky and Co. 41% from 3 last season at USC.

Love this pickup. Good athlete and pretty decent stroke.

He averaged 13.3 and 9.9 the year prior at Bowling Green! Seems like an effective rebounder!

Shot 23% and 24% on less than 1 3-point attempt per game during two seasons at Bowling Green, then show 39% on 2 attempts per game last season at USC.

Seems like a solid rebounder. Probably a decent depth guy at a minimum. Could be really impactful if the 3-point shooting improvement is sustained.

Isn't Miles a guard?

Not comparable mo. . Mostly different skill sets. Statistically tho Agee seems like a very positive addition .
To me the comparison to project is Griffen vs Miles because the timing indicates the addition of Geiffin led to the exit of Miles.

Jmo but I think we need one more good guard. Proven D1 player would be great but hi potential prospect would also not be a disappointment.

Who knows how this will all work out but I am pretty impressed with the players this staff was able to bring in. I feel like there's a shot at having a competitive team ( bubbly NCAA tourney team) . If they do then Bucky would seemingly be quite the successful hire. That's not to say less than that would not be a success in Yr 1, it just depends on what it looks like and how it progresses.

I'd still like to know what's up with Jaylen Lee. As far as I can decifer he entered the portal but has not committed elsewhere . He is a good athlete and I feel like he could be a fit for this system just based on a few data points. If offered why wouldn't he accept ( no one else has closed on him yet). Has size and athleticism… dunno if he can shoot .

A lot of old players with a good amount of experience, even if they haven't played together I still like it.

One thing that concerns me is we will sort of be in the same position next offseason. Lots of guys running out of eligibility and some others that may be ready to go next level. Closing out with some guys that are good prospects with remaining eligibility would sure make me feel better. Having said that they needed guys ready to go right away so I can't really fault the approach. Being competitive right away makes the future brighter imo.

obvs diff type of player but his numbers are close to what Payne put up last season, slightly less efficient from paint but more from deep and the line

Agee is a great pickup honestly. Look at the game logs at the end of the season to see how he was playing at the end when given starter minutes.

Big 10 1st round vs. Rutgers: 23/11/5 1stock 50% FG%
Big 10 2nd round vs. Purdue 11/7/2 1 stock 37.55% FG%
College Basketball Crown 1st round vs. Tulane: 27/9/1 5 stocks 83.3% FG%
2nd round vs. Villanova: 22/7/2 2 stocks 50% FG%

In almost every game where he saw 20+ minutes, he was getting double digit points.

Against Oregon late in the season: 29/14/1 9 stocks 71.4% FG%

Wish Duke Miles had stuck around, I liked what he brought to the table. If we can bring in one more guard with near double digit type scoring production against Power 4 teams and a decent defensive reputation, then I think we will be done with upperclassmen/expected rotation spots.

But at least next year Bucky will be able to recruit guys out of high school to start building a team for the long term. Even if he has to replace 6-8 players, it will be easier to be selective on transfers if he has 4-5 HS recruits coming in.

I kinda got roasted for suggesting this was going to be the case when Bucky came on so late in the recruiting season. It wasn't like he had the luxury of being picky. This was always going to be a stop gap year with hired guns. But now he'll be able to go full throttle on recruiting for the future and actually building a foundation for his program.

And the way things go now, there is no guarantee or even an assumption that a freshman or any player with eligibility will actually stick around.

Massive turnover is here to stay.

Also have to remember that most of the top portal players were off the board by the time Bucky was hired.

Although we will need to refill the coffers again next year, the fact that we are pulling together a pretty impressive roster from virtually nothing in such a short period of time gives me confidence that we can handle that moment.

I think there will be cause for concern if Bucky Ball doesn't produce some decent results in year one. High schoolers and next year portal players will use it as their reference point. I am not saying he needs to set the world on fire, but if we go under .500, then I will start worrying about how we bridge the gap twice.

Anyone that roasted this is dumb. Been obvious the whole way that this is a "take whoever can help us now" situation. There's a lot of things that would be nice that we're in no position to do.

We are two years away from having a sustainable roster, IMO. We took everything available this year. We hit high school recruiting hard this next year, but still need heavy portals to fill it up. Perhaps we can get some portal guys with 2 years to play, but doubtful. the following season is where we have two full high school cycles and some portal additions. The hope is that we have a sustainable rotation of tenured players.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
Now that we finally have a new recruit we can look at rotation. Last year we had 10 players who played nearly every game and 2 part timers. 7 or 8 players with 20+ minutes/game?

Lane/Holloway/Green
Hill/Holloway/Green
Griffen/McDermott
Mgbako/Agee/McDermott
Federiko/Agee/Vinson

I'd rather A&M not even bother with recruiting HS. With today's environment, I think schools like A&M are better off recruiting guys from mid-majors, small major and even DII guys over a HS kid.

A&M is probably not going to compete/pay for blue chip HS guys. So recruit an older, college experienced guy from a lower level and develop them, even if only for a year or two.

I like yours a lot, here is my stab at it. I'd say:

Lane/ Holloway/ Green
Griffen/ Hill/ Holloway/ Green
Mgbako/ Griffen/ McDermott
Agee/Mgbako/ McDermott
Federiko/ Vinson/clemence

I like Lane's game tape but Unless Green is a lot better than I think as a true freshman, I still think we need another PG. I think of Holloway more as a small combo guard more than a pg

Agee is a really solid forward pick up for this system. Now hopefully we can get his teammate, Claude, even though it will be tough to land him. I also like your idea of Agee as a small ball 5 in situations

I disagree with this. I think we're the kind of program that still needs some HS guys that come in here and stay long term. We're not going to recruit the blue chip guys but the good thing about the kind of guys we can get is they're much more likely to be willing to sit a year and improve than anyone out of the portal would be. I think you need those kind of guys as culture guys if nothing else.

I don't think there's any question you need both to have a sustainable program. This staff was put in a bind and they have responded well imo but you have to get some guys that will be here for 2-4 seasons . Not their fault they couldn't get many younger guys in this yr imo.

It is going to be super interesting to see if he can pull this together into a competitive squad this year. This may be the most interesting season in a long time. From what I have seen so far I wouldn't bet against it.
