Odds that the eye monster ends up in Boy Kavalier?

I was thinking he was going to force it on the lady scientist or Wendy's bro.

That's my bet. I also bet eyeball kills Boy,

Are they planning a Season 2 or going to wrap the story next week? I prefer they wrap it, but seems like a lot of ground to cover.

My biggest gripe remains "is this a xeno or a Predator" as ONE took out another armed and alert patrol last night, but what can you do...

Season two is happening, it's just not officially greenlit yet, but as I understand it that's just a formality at this point. My guess is we hear something in the next couple of weeks. I know someone who's very close with one of the co-EPs on the show, and Hawley has already informally started the season two writer's room, they've had multiple meetings now, etc.

My first impression is that I hope they don't do more. They were already getting real close to blowing up the known canon by bringing a xenomorph to earth (they've done so in a way that I, as a long time Alien nut, can accept), but any real continuation of this story with the xenomorph just strains that.

But, if they spun it off with a focus more on the corporate wars/synth/Oculus thing, I think that could have some good potential. That would run the Prometheus risk of not actually having a xenomorph in it, but I do like the world that Hawley has created. And that Oculus thing is a very compelling alien critter in its own right.

I'm definitely hoping for a "spinoff" of sorts, or at least a ditching of most of the kids and a focus instead on what's working - Marrow, Kirsh, The Oculus, etc. I'm sure Wendy will likely have to come along as well, which is fine, as long as it's a new-ish story with new characters thrown in. Hawley is known to reinvent from season to season, so hopefully that's the case.

This might have been discussed already but the old dude that works for Boy; is he human or a robot? Have they said explicitly? I think they showed him catching something with a very fast reaction time in a prior episode but i don't remember anything other than that.

Do you think it has the ability to take over a synthetic?

It tried to take over the redhead at one point early in the series, but I don't see how it could actually do it.

I think it probably could. Just because. 100% Boy Kavalier will have a "conversation" with it either after putting it in his eye himself or it getting into his eye. It'll be the thing that's "smarter" than him that he's been looking for. Title of the next episode is "The real monsters", so I think either we see the eyeball things start taking over or the Engineers show up.

Engineers aren't canon in this world. This is an alternate timeline according to Hawley where Prometheus didn't happen.

Doesn't mean it can't happen

Well, that would be a massive head fake if he did since he's publicly said they aren't canon and he specifically wanted to move away from that entire plot point.

They've been telegraphing it since the scene with BK being jealous of eyeball alien giving Kirsh all its attention, and BK then tapping on the cage to get its attention and then pointing at his chest.

Odds of the eyeball alien killing Boy Kavalier are probably through the ceiling considering the way they foreshadowed it. BK tried to stare it down, crouched, and pointed at his own chest.
. . .

Atom (the old consigliere) even told BK the last episode that splitting the aliens up increased the risk of them escaping containment. It's 100% going to get out, although TCTTS confirming Season 2 is a go kind of goes against them killing off such a central and fun antagonist as BK before the show's run is done.

The synth kids have been repeated plot devices for letting the aliens run amok (Slightly setting the face hugger on Arthur, Wendy freeing the adult Xeno, Tootles getting killed leading to the bug aliens bugging out).

It seems the formula would call for Curly (in suck up mode to BK) being involved in the eyeball alien's emancipation.

You'd think they'd do something with the plant alien before the season is done. Lead scientist Dame (husband dead) and the brother (killed one of the kids synths) seem like probable casualties. Maybe Morrow tangles with it, but I imagine he lives regardless as Yutani's samurai in Season 2. He's had too much screen time and character development to be dispatched with another season incoming.

Fun guessing though. I've enjoyed the series apart from the focus on the peripheral synth hybrids.

I think they can totally kill off BK and still have a season two. Personally, I would prefer it, as it would help with the "reset" factor I mentioned above. I honestly find the character far too one-note and annoying.

This show has a unique editing style with the overlays. Can't think of anything else that treats flashback and inner thoughts with editing like this. If any future shows uses overlays in this way we would think of it using the Alien: Earth technique

How did Slightly get the face huggered Arthur to his room. Arthur was hidden under his bed. The monster was under his bed.

Smee is a true friend. One you can call on to help dispose of a body and he is in no questions asked.

Yes all advanced species would know the ratio pi. But none of them would be able to understand Arabic numbers.

If it was all part of Kirsh's plan then it was executed perfectly. He got a new xenomorph, lost a scientist with a conscience, recovered two hybrids, and captured a bunch of Weyland-Yitani prisoners.

Agree, not the greatest episode. Mostly shuffling peices around the game board preparing for the end game. Wendy going solo with the Alien on her side is interesting and whatever the eyeball is up to.

I think it would be pretty badass in this universe if one of the 5 oligarchs that rules the planet became an alien mind control zombie.

Yeah they've spent too much time foreshadowing BK's demise to the eyeball alien to not deliver the payoff.

Olyphant has been really good in this show. You never know where his loyalties lie, or if he's evil like David, or benevolent like Bishop. Either way, evil or benevolent, it isn't coming from a place of hate, love, or caring.

This is where I'm at.

This season started as interesting and has since become popcorn entertainment. The use of the kids as plot devices has just been silly and looking back seems kind of lazy

I think I'm most interested in what Kirsh is really up to and seeing where the eyeball monster ends up.

Side note, i feel like they have been really inconsistent with showing the physical capabilities of the hybrids. Wendy defeats a xenomorph but then the two idiot boys are carrying the unconscious scientist like he's heavy. One of them should have been able to easily sling him over a shoulder and essentially run to meeting point.

That would require CGI, correct? Or a dummy like they did with Newt in Aliens which looked horrible.

I try to think of them as not knowing their full capabilities due to them not being told and also kids. We saw that one guy rip the door off the food receptacle for the flies by accident

Same with Red and her just altering that soldiers smile a smidge

I am guessing we are never leaving the island. The aliens are "contained." Surely, there is a nice cave somewhere so a drone can morph into a queen and start laying eggs. More Weyland troops will arrive when the first teams fail to report back at regular intervals.

The entire series ends with a tactical nuke and massive cover up.

Finished ep 7 last night and this was my one big nitpick.

Nibs rips a dude's jaw off but the boys have to drag Arthur's body along the beach? Or is this just in their mindset, they haven't really understood what they are yet so they think they need help?

Kirsh to me seems sort of amoral, his mission is the company's mission and individuals don't really have any value to him. Though does that the fact that he's a Prodigy synthetic and not a Yutani android change how he thinks/is programmed? (And yes, Timothy Olyphant is awesome.)

Other than that great episode, really enjoying this season and excited to see where they take the finale.
