There were early screenings all last week so they probably saw it then.

Super pumped for tonight. Dead center at the IMAX 70mm in Dallas

Ya that's why i was confused about the spoiler thread when almost every theatre has 'early screenings'. The movie is effectively released lol.

Don't be late. 10 min prologue of The Odyssey runs before the movie starts and it's ****ing insane.

Before the previews even or just with the previews?

I always make it a goal to be at the theater 15 minutes early and in my seat. I like seeing trailers and such

They don't show previews at the 70mm IMAX. Generally if a showtime is 7pm, they start at 7:10pm (giving a 10min grace period for people to get concessions).

For anyone within driving distance of a 70mm screen (Dallas or San Antonio), I highly recommend it for this movie. The visuals are spectacular and the screen absolutely swallows you in the psychedelic cinematic moments.

Here's a breakdown of the difference. 7 stories tall and 5 stories wide.

After reading the book and listening to the audiobook a few times over the last few months, I feel like I set this up with some impossible expectations. It could just be a "me" issue, but The Martian was much better than this one in my humble opinion.

I'm probably in the same boat. I've listened to a lot of reviews and all of them spell out the same issues. However, all of them say this is a good movie but is not Best Picture quality. I was hoping for nearly a year that's what I'd be getting but I need to prepare myself I'll be slightly disappointed.

I liked the book. Really enjoyed it. But I do think it dragged just a bit at the end. I remember thinking "We're really doing yet another scientific experiment here? Let's just get to the conclusion."

Theodore, like from the Chipmunks? Yeah, he was my favorite too…

Also I think we finally have a space scene that tops the docking scene from Interstellar IMO. Or at least rivals it.

And right behind those I'd put the moon landing from First Man. Gosling loves space.

That was outstanding. Some minor things, but I'm incredibly happy with that. Gosling was great. Cinematography was incredible. Definitely deserves a nomination. My wife was in tears at parts

Was the Odyssey prologue the same as the one in front of Avatar?

Kinda upset we didn't get it in my IMAX showing.

Our IMAX also gave out cut strips of 70mm film . They said Cinemark is working to get a couple more true 70mm IMAX theaters.

I was not disappointed at all.

Some of the complaints I heard was the humor gets in the way at times. Never felt that in the least. Also heard the multiple endings issue. None of how it was done bothered me, but I might see how a non book reader would see it that way.

Film was beautiful to watch. I felt the sounds/music were even better. Best picture? I don't know. But it was damn good.
