I'm sorry, but there is absolutely no way this statement is remotely true. This thread has been clicked on over 7700 times, and sure, a large portion of those are multiple views by the same posters, but even factoring that in, to think the book has been read by the majority of visitors to this thread is laughable. Also, this is how the board has operated for YEARS. We've never, ever freely talked book spoilers in threads like this. How some of y'all are twisting this to justify not simply starting a book thread is ridiculous.


Everyone read the book.

It's a very entertaining and fast read.

Saw 17 responses, had to wonder what was going on a thread about a movie not coming out until next year, and come to find more griping about what constitutes a spoiler.

For those who have read the book, you clearly have a bigger picture of what to expect out of this movie. For those who have not read the book, the trailer does its job in provoking interest in seeing the movie. I have not read the book (it is next on my list), but I see nothing in there that spoils anything for me. Perhaps they could have not included the extraterrestrial (as they largely did with 1979's Alien ,) but maybe what's left doesn't excite enough non-book readers about this movie. Not having read the book, I cannot say.

Trailers should give just enough to hook audiences. This trailer does that job.

Entertainment forum probably in my top 5 forums on TexAgs. Sometimes it's at the top depending what's going on with Aggie sports at the time. But the constant controlling and rules about making new or different threads drives me nuts in here. It might be as bad as BAS sport posts constantly crying about something on the other forums.

My least fav aspect being once a movie is released having to have two separate threads. Makes zero sense.

Only time there should be 2 threads is if it's a tv show based on a book or movie.

There are way too many spoilers or information given out.

We should be aware of spoiling, but there is absolutely no guarantee anything from the book not in the trailer will be in the movie.

For all we know Grace never makes sweet sweet love to Rocky.

Got interested in the book from seeing the trailer. Asked my 10 year old daughter how long the library hold was to read it and she was all, "a few months". So I just told her I'd suck it up and buy on kindle to read it.

Five minutes later she comes down stairs with the iPad and she has a PDF of the book on the screen. If I had to guess I'm sure she googled and found it for free somewhere. All that seemed questionable so I tell her not to do that again and send her on her way.

Me: finishes pdf in 3 days.

This is one of my favorite audiobooks.

Narration is great and some aspects of the book work better in audio than they do on the page in my opinion.

New baby due this month. Budget got tightened and book buying was basically eliminated.

The last 10 books I've read have all been PDFs I've found via Google.

Try the Cloud Library app. You can check out books and download them to your phone for free if your local library participates and you have a library account.

I've read dozens of great books for free, including this one!

They also have audio books.

I use Libby. Same concept. Check your local library. Sometimes you can even get an e-card without having to go in person. I have like three e-library-cards from local, city, and county libraries to check out books from.

If anything, they've nailed the music.

But yeah, this looks incredible, and the buzz is that the movie lives up to the book and then some.

As much as I like that Oasis song, the trend of a slowed down/orchestral version of a pop song played over a trailer was played out three years ago, much less today.

Except that's the actual song, sung by Oasis themselves. Yes, slightly remixed, but so is damn near every pop song used in every trailer, which has been a thing for nearly 50 years now. There's a difference between that and, say, the choral cover of "Creep" in The Social Network or the orchestral version of "Sweet Child of Mine" in the Westworld season three trailer, which I agree are a little played out (but can still be effective if used effectively)...
