Just sat down for what I hope is a movie worthy of a great book.

Saw it today on the Samsung Onyx screen at Star Cinema Grill in Richmond/Katy. The was a perfect movie for that screen. The visuals from Rocky's POV were impeccable.

Taking the daughter today at 3 to SCG in Richmond to watch on the Onyx screen. The only previous movie I saw on that screen was Oppenheimer. I have read the book, so I'm going in knowing what to expect. My daughter is not familiar with the story, but does seem to have a thing for Gosling.

This and the Silo thread may be the most contentious threads ever between readers and watchers. I edited my semi spoiler and will move to the other thread.
‘DUNE: PART TWO’ and ‘PROJECT HAIL MARY’ are the only sci-fi films this decade to earn an A CinemaScore, both shot by Greig Fraser. pic.twitter.com/TjlZDw2J97

I saw it at an IMAX theater expecting the best experience. The opening even claimed "made for IMAX" or "used IMAX cameras" or somesuch, but the movie itself was standard movie dimensions and the bottom and top of the screen were empty. Is that expected? The seats at the Cinemark down the street fully recline while these were standard seats. Seems like that's the much better value.
Actually, Grok said "over 70%" of the movie uses the full screen. I guess I didn't notice the switches…
If you saw it at an IMAX, do you think it was worth it?

And with no sex, gory violence, or a million f bombs.

Also, random thing we noticed was that there was a scene with Gosling at the conference table with the project head/team talking about important stuff and there was minor thing with his glasses in terms of continuity. Zero story impact but 100% noticeable. Just a random thing to see if anyone else noticed it, or if anyone who plans to watch will also notice it.

Can you guys please use the spoiler thread for plot discussion, questions, etc. Per usual, this thread should ONLY be for vague/general reactions…

Too late really. You'd have to be a dope not to have a pretty good idea of the plot and main characters from the previous 13 pages.
No way I was going to this Thread until after I saw the movie. I can't understand why anybody would?
Saw it yesterday morning - we always go to the morning shows for two reasons: The big theater is almost empty and I don't fall asleep in those awesome lounge chairs while drinking my Starbucks.
That being said, what a great ride! I read the book but loved the movie. Wifey didn't read the book but loved the movie.
my only vague gripe was I thought the sound editing coukd have been clearer - then again I'm used to closed captioning at home.
This is how we've done it for damn near 20 years, for every single blockbuster/big movie.
Once the movie is released, the "official" thread becomes the "general reaction" thread, and then the newly-created spoiler thread is where spoiler discussions are held. It's not that complicated, especially when the spoiler thread has been linked to numerous times.
People here always ***** and moan whenever critic reviews are posted or Rotten Tomatoes scores are referenced, saying they only care what the general audience thinks. And now, when those of us who can't see the movie until Saturday/Sunday/next week want to read general audience reactions here, y'all are essentially like, "**** you. You snooze you loose."
That's bull*****
That's what these threads have ALWAYS been for.
Also, I started this thread, so don't tell me what it is/isn't or that I'm a "dope" for reading it. **** off with that.
