Just wanted to say that this whole "the left and right disagree on more than they agree on" is hogwash. If you open yourself up and talk to people on the other side of the aisle in real life it will become pretty obvious pretty quickly.

Everyday people on both sides want:
  • Opportunities for the next generation
  • Safety for their children
  • Systems and policies that promote a fair playing field
  • Political representation that cares about the will of the electorate
  • The freedom to live their lives according to their spiritual beliefs, so long as those beliefs do not infringe on the safety of others
  • Communities that support each other even when times are hard
  • Affordable, clean living spaces
  • Tax dollars to be used to promote the general welfare
I'm sure that shortly some of you will be in here quickly to try and tell me how whatever side you don't agree with doesn't actually support those things. But you have to look behind the political policies to get at the underlying human motivations that drive whatever those belief systems are, and those underpinnings are almost always some sort of common ground. We have been systematically taught to see our neighbor as our enemy, for the powerful are well aware that a neighborhood united can conquer and a neighborhood divided will conquer itself.

This is the way. And something I frequently espouse when speaking to my left and right leaning friends and family. We are all Americans and the 'conspiracy' is the media wants us to hate each other. Everyone needs more Jesus.

Both sides may "want safety for their children", but one side consistently votes criminal-friendly policy into action. There is a thread on Houston that follows how many times liberal judges give a slap on the wrist to hardened criminals in the name of social justice, and these career criminals end up raping or assaulting women or children, or killing someone in violent attack, DUI wreck etc. This is a "thing" in every major city.

You can't say "defund the police" AND "I want the streets to be as safe as possible for my children". Or if you vote for such people that think this way, you don't REALLY prioritize safe streets.

Yall, I'm done, other forums need me. Reminder, I do this for free and have never asked for a single thing in return. It doesn't happen often, but occasionally I get a DM along the lines of "you changed my life, I now see that transing kids and including males in womens' locker rooms is bad" and it makes it all worth it.

Just fascinating how worked up some of you Hollywood gatekeepers get when anyone criticizes the hypocrisy and preachiness of your beloved role models. Worked up into personal insults. If they only had a clue how ride or die yall were for them, how hard you fight on their behalf online. LOL
And yet you've done nothing here but rant for hours, in a way that is incredibly hypocritical and overly preachy.

And you don't seem to understand that.

And can't handle the criticism that that's what you're doing.

And considers anyone who points that that is exactly what you just did "a Hollywood gatekeeper."

All that makes you as hypocritical and preachy as anyone speaking at the Oscars (which you did without having watched it). And you appear to consider that "a personal insult" bc…reasons, or something?

No f'n way has this happened. I gotta say, I have enjoyed following your ramblings through your many different accounts but this line now has me thinking you are the best troll we've ever seen on here.

He'd post a screenshot if it actually happened.

Because lord knows he spent 8+ hours posting about something he didn't watch (and had to admit as much.)

Spoiler alert- it didn't actually happen.

Enough with the derails, let's get this thread back on track. Anyone else who absolutely cannot stand this woman? To me it almost seems like she wasn't even acting in "One Battle". Looks like she got into some type of altercation on the red carpet.

Funny how "trouble" always seems to find crazy lightning rods like this...

Not only that, but you had the chance to go out on one of the most unintentionally hilarious posts I've ever read on this site. You could have pulled a Costanza...

... but instead you just pulled a Newman...

And of course, your mornic ass, who does nothing but repost tweets that actually, *coincidentally, I'm sure* in no way show how she was touched. You have no idea, or you'd have posted such.

F16 is right over there.

She's an uppity black woman, though. Which means it's perfectly fine to accuse her, with the slightest tinge of misogyny/racism, of being crazy/lying, sans any context whatsoever.

He's so used to collecting his blue stars on F16, where no context is required.

Comes over here, wants to make 800 comments, "leaves", then definitely doesn't leave, and comes back with no context posts of retweets.

And actually wants to be taken seriously.

I am sure a bouncer or bodyguard just intentionally sought out one of the most loudmouthed and obnoxious celebrities in attendance and put hands on her just to cause a scene and end his own career. I am sure she would never lie or exaggerate. And obviously, it's RACIST to even question her or her motives. We all know deep down Phylicia Rashad, or another classy actress from a bygone era, would have somehow magically been able to avoid this type of confrontation or reaction though.

If someone can post video evidence of a security guard pushing her unprovoked, I can't guarantee anything, but I WILL TRY MY BEST to never post here again.

Are you *sure* a bouncer or bodyguard?

YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW WHICH…

Posted this thing you didn't even know enough to repost about?

(And you think "libs" or anyone else who doesn't think this is functionally is a "lib" while they might not be…)

F16 is that way if this is the best you can do.

FWIW, this took place after the show ended. She was on stage to take a photo with the rest of the cast to celebrate their best picture win when she noticed some of the studio execs in the crowd who should be included. She went back down the steps to grab Warner Bros. co-CEO Pamela Abd and was headed back onto the stage when the security guard stopped her. From what have read, the guard blocked her path then grabbed her to stop her from going back up the steps. It also sounds like he was not apologetic for what happened.

I get having a job to do but I think you also have to realize the crowd you are dealing with. These aren't randos off the street trying to get into a club. You have some of the wealthiest and most influential people in Hollywood in attendance. I think some professional courtesy and tact would probably go a long way, even if it isn't deserved. I'm not saying Teyana Taylor is an *******, but there are plenty of stories of celebrities being dicks to people. I'd err on the side of caution just in case. I certainly wouldn't know what the CEO of Warner Brothers looks like.

It also seems like the Academy is siding with Taylor. The security guard was contracted by an outside firm and according to the Academy "We have made it clear to them that this behavior is not acceptable," The security team also echoed their statement and said the incident did not meet the level of professionalism the expect from their employees and have addressed the situation internally.

And yet...

- The literal thematic point of One Battle After Another is to show extreme/violent leftism for the morally bankrupt pursuit it is.

- Sinners *absolutely* had a shot at winning it all - it literally came down to the wire - which, by definition, left plenty of doubt as to whether One Battle would win or not. (Never mind that half the right thinks Sinners is just as a "woke.")

But you didn't watch either, or any of the nominees for that matter, so you of course wouldn't by privy to those facts.

Why some of you always feel the need to voice your opinions, while simultaneously showing that your opinions are utterly irrelevant/misinformed, I will never understand.

"I didn't watch any of this crap, and I clearly don't know what I'm talking about, but I just thought I'd pop in to make both of those facts abundantly clear!"

Congrats!

I had forgotten about this post until I came back and saw you guys still arguing on page whatever this is. It's truly baffling to me how personal you seem to take any criticism of your industry. In all the years we've had interactions, I've never never talked down to you the way you did here. Especially considering the fact that I didn't even reference you in the post.
As to my post, I didn't say that I didn't see OBAA, only that I hadn't seen all of the films to make a true comparison. I said it might be the best film but it had an inherent advantage, If you read around, there are plenty of people, including Hollywood insiders, who took the anti-fascist ripped from the headlines theme as their primary takeaway. And given that, Hollywood has a history of injecting politics into its Oscar decision-making. It was going to give the film a leg up. I'm not really sure that's even debatable, unless you believe that green card, moonlight, shape of water, were all truly the best picture in those years. I can enjoy the industry, many of the movies, and simply want to skip the sometimes overt politics of an awards ceremony. So I am not sure how contempt towards folks who have genuinely shown an interest in the medium helps the industry, but that's exactly why it draws so much ire. Ironic that you can't see that,
But I don't come here for drawn out arguments, so last word is yours.

"I don't agree with that because of these reasons."

"Why are you taking this so personally/so bothered by this?"
