Race should play no role in drawing districts, or any government action. I've voted for plenty of black, Hispanic etc. candidates for office and don't feel it was some sort of heroic/difficult decision as a white guy. Supreme Court doesn't normally handle trials with evidence. They were inevitably going to set things far enough out for the parties to launch documents into the court file as there is zero lower court record for them to review.

An activist court could leverage anti-discrimination law and create a principle that a state's house delegation cannot stray significantly from the aggregate of voter party affiliation.

Then the mechanics of it would be quite interesting: does a state get denied a delegation that exceeds the threshold? How do they remedy it in short order? You couldn't redistrict and run new races in that window and even if you could there's no guarantee an approved result would be achieved… so do they overturn the closest races until parity is achieved? That seems the only achievable remedy. That'd get interesting in the case where a 3rd party collects a material number of votes (ie if 10% of the vote went Green in a state with 10 seats; theoretically the tallest midget would be buoyed into congress. Alternatively, a 3rd party candidate who barely wins their seat in a state who needs to correct a seat may lose theirs because of a lack of statewide compatriots).

Probably mostly an academic discussion as the court shouldn't be active enough to screw with these mechanics, but it would be interesting to see a realistic corrective mechanism to nullify gerrymandering.

Burrows doesn't want redistricting to occur, either. Notice how silent he has been. Texans need to wake up and kick out Burrows, Buckley, Phelan and their allies. The people's work continues to be avoided.

On a national level, democrats are destroying us by using every tactic known to man to include gerrymandering and redistricting and the "republican" cabal in Austin is more than happy to tie our hands behind our back and let them punch away.

We have the most conservative state leadership team in the country. Republicans run all 3 branches of government, handily. The last session provided a huge conservative result in legislation passed. There is a reason Trump went to Texas to bolster the national mid-term changes in the US Congress. As the decades growth in Texas has by-far been concentrated in the I-35 corridor and Houston (the urban areas), these results in how Texas is managed / led have been nothing but a conservative miracle, impressive strategy and impressive tactics.

I guess like everything in life, it could always go farther or be a little better but I think "destroying us" is far from accurate.
