Quorum achieved! Make it happen!!!!
Alexander, Caesar, Charlemagne, and myself founded empires; but upon what foundation did we rest the creations of our genius? Upon force! But Jesus Christ founded His upon love; and at this hour millions of men would die for Him. - Napoleon Bonaparte

Probably going to have to sit through a bunch of dem priorities first so that Burrows can sooth the feelings of his base before we start on the contentious stuff.

Would be soo great if this pissed off a lot of Texans come next round of voting. Proving to the public their vote doesn't matter isn't going to be that popular.

Great point.

Now tell us why your point doesn't apply to CA, IL, NY, and all of the other blue states that have already done the same thing?

Truth is, Texas is late to a party that has been going on for decades. You're just upset that Texas is fighting fire with fire, and this is the first time your party is getting burned.

Republicans are playing the game the same as the dems have for years and the dems don't like it one bit.

I don't think so. Democrat voters haven't selected their presidential candidate for years now, and you're clearly not bothered by that.

They have not broken any law, so they can't be criminally arrested.

The warrants issued were to secure their attendance in the legislature. Those that came back can't leave without permission and are being watched by DPS. That is the arrest the Texas constitution allows for.

The statement about them being spineless still applies. Far far too many RINOS in comparison to Florida.

Good to know about the arrests though, it's a shame we can't keep DPS on them longer.

The fact that anyone is arguing what they are doing is insane given what the democrats have done in other blue states for years. California is already redistricting again to counter the 5 seats they just gained in Texas. The won't even have to threaten to arrest anyone to do it. The sad point is that is the last state they can probably counter in as they have run out of other states to do it in as they have been so blatant about it. If republicans do the same thing in red states the Dems lose by about 30 seats.

Hopefully Florida does it as well. California better be careful as their margins are thin and getting thinner with constituents rightly fed up with idiots like Bass and Newsom. They gerrymander too much and it could backfired bigly on them.

I haven't zoomed in on the Missouri redistricting but I assume for St. Louis they just combined jewish and black neighborhoods into one uber democrat zone, and then strategically balanced the suburbs and exburbs to create republican leaning containment zones.

Source: Spent a few days in St. Louis, saw the arch, enjoyed nice parks in the safe zones, got then got the heck out of there at first opportunity.

T-cam's statement is indicitive of the disconnect of the entire Democrat party. In the mind of a dem, they think that they will win over Republican votes in Texas because 'dem votes don't matter' in Texas, while completely ignoring that millions of Republican votes 'don't matter' in CA, IL, NY and other blue states.

It is this failure to see anything beyond themselves and the blatant hypocrisy in their arguments that has the Democrat party losing support left and right.
Deerdude

Add to that the fact they can only combat it with rhetoric because most of their states already rigged and there's little if anything to gain by gerrymandering their states.

As long as the Ds keep choosing to promote the 20 side on a bunch of 80/20 issues, they can cry about redistricting all they want, but they aren't going to draw any voters back their way. They are convinced that if they sneer at us enough and insult us enough for not believing what they do that we will see the light and choose to join them in their unpopularity. The fact that Allred basically spent his whole campaign trying to disavow the entire dem platform for the last 4 years and still lost by a million votes against a relatively unlikeable Ted Cruz should be a message that the dem agenda as a whole is a loser.

CA is going to TRY to redistrict.

However, it's against their constitution, so they're going to try an end run around the rule of law to achieve it...

Massachussetts is going to gerrymander in a unique way.

Currently it's:

Dem 9
GOP 0

They're going to make it:

Dem 12
GOP -3

And he doesn't have support

https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/5451810-california-voters-back-independent-redistricting/

Quote:

California voters widely prefer keeping the state's independent redistricting commission, new polling shows, as Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) threatens to bypass it to counter GOP gerrymandering in other states.

Newsome did do his own poll that shows 57% support the measure, but, it was Newsomes pollster who did it

They will just keep counting the votes until they get enough to win like they did in the house races they stole in 2024.
