But how would I have known to look for them on social media?

Not my problem!

No, it's Gumbeaux Cajun Catering Co's problem. I love Cajun food and would have enthusiastically supported them had I known they existed. My suggestion was, if anyone on this thread hears of other similar "popups", please post them here to hopefully drum up some additional business for them. I always like to support local restaurants. Thanks for your sarcastic reply though.

Cheers.

Pretty sure the owner posted on here a few times also. Apparently people knew about them as they have a lot of Facebook followers and there were a lot of folks at their December pop up. Sorry you missed out!

Happy New Year, unsarcastically!

Sorry I missed it. You have a Happy New Year, too!

There is a new Murphy station on Hwy 21 just east of Texas Avenue (near the La Michoacana). 87 octane ethanol-free and DEF pumps available as well if you need that sort of thing.

Did they ever start construction on that Javi's Mexican food in the old Red Lobster?

Something is going on at the old Red Lobster. Last time I drove by (last week?) they were doing facade work. Had new foam panels all over.

What struck me as odd was the Red Lobster sign on the front of the building was still prominent but looked different. Not saying that means anything, just seemed odd to me.

Not sure what status this would be under but Blue Moon BBQ had closed temporarily in 2025 but friends who live near them say they have reopened. I guess there was some bad road construction that interfered with their business or something. If true, glad they are back!

La Madeleine (Fitch) Going into the former Zaxby's

This is the first time I've heard of this. I'll believe when I see it but I don't see the TDLR filings yet.

There are a few things not on your list, like Atwoods (north of the West Bryan Walmart). The Bank of America branch near the College Station Kroger is "temporarily" closed but these sort of things often turn permanent. They're also planning to move the McDonald's at Villa Maria and 2818 to a stand-alone location at the northeast corner of the intersection.

@BiochemAg97: On the side that TyHolden pictured it's still the same as what Google Maps shows. FWIW Google Maps is finally putting as Red Lobster as permanently closed instead of temporarily closed, as it was as recently as last year. (They haven't been clued on the fate of the Southgate Subway yet, as least as of this writing.

Back in June, La Madeleine announced opening in College Station by 2026. KBTX even published a story about it.

https://www.kbtx.com/2025/06/26/la-madeleine-open-two-locations-college-station/?outputType=amp

Not sure of its current status.

Announcing that there would be one in College Station-Bryan doesn't amount to much if there wasn't a location announced. In the late 2000s there was Carl's Jr. coming to town--that never materialized and around COVID they closed almost all of their remaining restaurants in the area having stalled out in growth, and then there was also (more recently) Bojangles, which still may come yet, but they're dragging their feet.

Also, dd's Discounts is coming to the old Jo-Ann Fabrics at the Tejas Center.

Javis was going to completely change the facade so no telling if they decided to leave it the same to save money or if it's someone else doing something with it

Is that more Fuji Film expansion out on 47/HSC? I see they've started on the lumin building by the Stella. Interested to see what that turns into. Progess can't be stopped but I sure do hate seeing green space go away out in this area. Been really peaceful.

First I've heard of the Atwoods. That will be a nice addition to that side of town with Murdochs and TSC being across town.

I already mentioned last thread, the "but we already have Murdoch's and TSC" arguments(?) were brought up there.

I had also found out that the Shipleys was coming from the same plan (now confirmed)

You are right that the red lobster signage on the building looks the same as in the google street view from 5 months ago. However, the google street view shows the red and grey siding still in place rather than all the tyvek wrap. Looks like they just haven't touched the red lobster sign yet.

Something is happening but maybe not very fast as TyHolden's picture looks pretty much the same as a week before when i drove past.

Bojangles is great, way better than Laynes or Canes, both of which are very overrated.

If I'm in the Carolinas, Bojangles is great. I'm more of a chicken express person here though.

Agree that the current state of both Canes and Laynes is overrated.

They're a pretty good ways out on OSR east. I believe they were on the Texas Top 50 list at one point. I've had it a total of three times. Each was very underwhelming, and one time made our whole group sick.

Off topic but I've got to ask, what's the deal with their sweet tea? I mean, no normal human can drink it as-is, right? I always have to order half regular tea and half sweet tea from there. I've only tried the one off Wellborn Rd so I don't know if they're all like that.
