Lina's highest paid staffer only makes $249,055. That's pretty modest once you see what Rodney Ellis's chief of staff makes: $405,221.

Here's another number, little over 3 million a month to send inmates to other counties/states.

Why the **** am I working in the private sector?!?!

Sure a large portion of the these staffer's salaries are being routed back to the politicians? In what world does the chief of staff for municipal politician need $250k?

More than I make and I actually provide a valuable service to every person in the country, facilitating the import and export of a significant portion of our oil. Our wages are depressed because the position is open to foreigners though. City and county govt employment is just a grift.

Making it impossible for children to see their parents is not conducive to a restorative justice system, creates additional financial burdens on taxpayers, and is not consistent with the words of Jesus or Paul.

Love the headline and sub:
Quote:

'That's not how it works': Commissioners blast Hidalgo's surprise tax proposal
"Just because the judge thinks she has an idea and thinks we ought to fall in line with itthat's not government."

Funny how Rodney Ellis remains silent and remains the only commissioner voting with her on controversial things like her international travel entourage. Amazing how quickly they went from a 4-1 voting bloc to a 2-person bloc with all the bullying and theatrics.

The Chronicle also had a staff editorial telling Lina that she needs to answer whether or not she's running for reelection.

"She pointed to a poll conducted by her office, which found that two-thirds of the voters who participated said they wanted to see an investment in this area. "

So the people that directly benefitted are the ones that want the free daycare to continue? Shocked face.

""They've been meeting at the staff level for a very long time," Hidalgo said. She referred further questions to her office and suggested Chron file a public information request for additional details."

She can release any info she wants. Telling reporters they have to submit a request is just adding red tape. I swear she is incredibly incompetent.

Last edit, there's a $270M budget deficit. The effective tax rate can only be increased 3.5% YoY, so by putting this on the ballot she can skirt around the 3.5% cap. This is what has commissioners upset, there's already budget holes to be filled and this is just adding a new burden to fund in the future.

This comment is a little old now, but such a perfect Lina Hidalgo statement:

Quote:

"I think I can certainly win a primary," Hidalgo said Tuesday. "I feel very confident in that, certainly against the candidates that have filed. Competition is part of a democracy."

The Kim Ogg investigation of her and her underlings was a warning to play nice with the dem machine (she wasn't giving the no-bid contracts to the right people). Pushing her out is a response to her making all of the dems at the county level look bad.
