It's a wonderful consolation after he tried to bend the Spurs over.

Hope you never have another good season, Kawhi. You're trash.

This would be perfect without the random shapes in the mid range

They just can't help themselves. The people want Fiesta, and they just have to throw their "spin" on it.

was wondering the same. They've done a good job marketing it during the games. I'm worried it is going to be a Oakland Raiders, San Diego Chargers- esque power play

It's kind if baffling how close the Prob B vote was. The main concern I saw with those opposed to it was because of the construction inconvenience, like what?

Because me and Guitarsoup went back and forth on him a lot in the draft process, Derik Queen had his best game as a pro last night.

In 18 minutes he put up 12/8/7 with 3 steals also for a +13 in those minutes.

I have NO idea if he can do this consistently AND it was against the Hornets lol, but nonetheless a data point. It'll be interesting to see how his season goes.

ETA that the Pelicans overall are a dumpster fire and this is raising my hopes that Murphy becomes available this season. Vassell plus draft compensation should be enough.

How about his defense? I always agreed he had nice footwork and touch. But I don't think he is the PF we want next to Wemby. He did have those 7 assists in this game, but those were actually the first assists he had all year, amazingly enough. He had played over 100 minutes without an assist. And his shooting has all been down low - he still doesn't have range, which was my concern. So back to my pre-draft talk on him, he doesnt have a shot and doesn't space the floor (still seems to be true), his defense sucks (still true), and he is a bad fit next to Wemby (still true.)

And I still can't believe NO gave up an unprotected pick next year and #23 for that tub of lard.

I'm sure his defense was sub par, but 12/8/7 is super productive in 18 minutes. In the draft process that's what I saw that I thought would really help our 2nd unit almost immediately because he can score and facilitate from the post.

Jokic is a fat tub of lard also that plays sub par defense, so it's not like there isn't precedent for that kind of player to succeed if they can be efficient enough offensively. Queen just has to prove that he can bring this kind of production consistently and if he can then he's a super valuable bench piece.

Obviously not saying his ceiling is Jokic, but I do think his ceiling is a difference making offensive player on the 2nd unit of a good team where he only has to bring effort for 20 minutes a night.

But Joker's got such a high IQ on there, he does make a defensive difference, even if he isnt giving effort on every play.

He has the footwork and has soft touch, but you are right that consistency is key.

Yeah, I agree he could be a good 2nd unit guy. Maybe someday he can be a poor man's Sengun as a 2nd team hub, but I still rather get what we got in Carter Bryant - a ceiling of a long term D&3 starter that is a lock down defender with size and athleticism. I would have taken Queen somewhere after Sorber, but if my thought is that his ceiling is a productive bench player, I don't want to use a lottery pick on that. I do agree he could be that, and that is probably a good thing for backing up Zion. But not at that cost they paid of their own 26 first and the 23rd pick last year.

FWIW, I don't think NOLA blows it up this year, but I sure wouldn't mind Devin+Atl's 26 pick for Trey.

It's not baffling when you think how uninformed and sometimes just flat-out stupid people are in general. Next, factor in how it's mostly older people who vote (older people who don't care about sports, which is for the younger crowd).

I'm glad my city didn't step on its own wiener at the goal line, despite the efforts of our dumbass Mayor. I don't think the Spurs would have left after just one vote not going their way, but why would you antagonize the one popular thing we have in town? Especially after getting Wemby.

I early voted and there was literally 3 other people voting at the same time as me. I think overall most people just don't care enough to vote.

That said, publicly funding sports arenas is a terrible concept. Not hard to see why people would oppose it from a purely economical stand point. Add to that how none of the promises were met for the Frost Bank Center in terms of development in the area and again not hard for people to vote against.

Personally I voted for bc I don't want the spurs to leave SA, but I think the general plan for this development kind of sucks.

This is where I am.

I'm for it because I like the Spurs and I think there is 'some' economic benefit (never as much as the pro-side claims) and I think there is a huge benefit to a city that can't be measured in numbers.

As for the Mayor, I think what she was trying to say has a lot of truth in it. She just was just unnecessarily confrontational and combative. She's just not a good politician.

The thing to me is that we probably wouldn't be forcing a new arena now if they did it right 25 years ago when they built the FBC and 35 years ago when they built the Alamodome. SA/Bexar royally screwed up both of those builds. Ideally with the Spurs paying ~75% or more of this and it actually being in the right place this time, the cost will be born more by the team and the City will get it's money back out of it through taxes and events.

Utah's Walker Kessler is out for the season after tearing his labrum. I think Utah was trying to trade him before the deadline to get picks and that's DOA now. He is a RFA this summer and they couldn't come to an extension before That will be an interesting one.

Luka may get up 50 shots tonight.

Im all for Wemby praise, but he has been pretty bad overall the last two games. With as much as they're talking about him you'd think he has Luka's stat line

And Fox.

I'm a bit baffled why Sochan is in the court but Vassell is trying to guard Luka (and being predictably bad at it).
