Does make you wonder if he wasn't that way in SA bc he was starting and playing a lot or if the sheer disfunction of the LA Junior Varsity made him more difficult than he usually is

I think he has always been a pain to deal with, but it is because he is trying to get the best out of everyone.

Remember when Paul was about to get the jump ball and he grabbed Wemby and made Wemby get it? He's just constantly coaching like that.

In an environment like the Spurs with a young interim coach, young players eager to learn, and respectful veterans Harrison Barnes, Chris Paul can be kind of an ass in teaching and growing the players.

But Chris Paul is on the Clippers with Kawhi and James Harden now. They just want to plant and smoke trees and go to the club.

Plus, Pop was there at the beginning of the year. I'm sure they had a conversation about expectations. I think Pop has respect around the league that other coaches haven't earned yet.

While that is true, Lue does have two championships as a player and one as a head coach. I think he has more respect than most coaches. Unless they think that he got those titles gifted due to Kobe/Shaq/LeBron, which is totally valid.
