At some point they should have shifted the communication to someone besides the Sheriff. He is not a very good public speaker and is obviously not comfortable doing it. He seems to just ramble when he isn't reading directly from the notes.

IMHO she's not, I think the ransom notes are nothing more than a distraction, and likely fake scams. But Guthrie is hanging onto hope because of the notes (emails). The Authorities are going through the motions for the benefit of the family, I'm pretty sure they have their suspicions but are unable to prove them. My guess is Savannah has been pleading with them to make this video, so to satisfy her the authorities assisted them in making the video, Savannah's thinking is she makes her living on camera and it's the only tool she's got. The other two siblings look like hostages in their own right, no emotion whatsoever. It's a sad deal, but I'm convinced it's an inside job, but the cops have no way to prove it yet, and may never. eventually they are just going to have to accept that she's dead. 84 in poor health won't last long if she were being held hostage, but I think she was dead from the jump and the hostage thing is just a distraction.
You hit the nail on the head with the description of the siblings in that video. They video itself looks like a proof-of-life video; like they are in a concrete bunker and its being filmed by someone sitting on the ground. It's just so odd and so...cold...which of course, isn't what the purpose of the message is.

Everyone reacts to things differently. They may be trying to hold it together, or the FBI may be instructing them not to show too much emotion. We didn't know what all went into that.
I don't think that it's an inside job at this point. A neighbor had reported someone recently lurking around their property that was scared off when they set off a motion activated light. Could have been someone trying to case the area. Her mom was also on her show in the last few months, and that could have given someone the idea for a kidnapping. Also, her sister and sister's boyfriend seem to be fairly successful people, and this may have happened around 2am, hours after they'd dropped her off. I think checking surveillance around their house and their phones would probably be pretty easy to see if they'd left at all during the night. Plus, by all accounts they were a pretty close family.

Fairly successful? He's a school teacher, an elementary school teacher in Tucson makes and average of approximately $44,791 to $53,801 annually depending on years of service, he's taught six years so he's on the lower end. Annie Guthrie is a poetry writer and jeweler in Tucson. Guthrie is author of a book of jewelry design with Chronicle Books and a book of poems, Doubt seriously if she make six figures a year. They recently bought a $600k house, they are in debt up to their eyeballs I bet.

The situation is tragic, and I very much hope she is found alive (although that seems very unlikely at this point) but I am at a loss as to why this is garnering such a huge amount of national media attention. It has completely hijacked the news cycle for the last 24 hours.

I'm still leaning to sister and BIL. And if she knows something, like him leaving the house, she needs to speak up.

If sis and BIL are innocent, they need to hook up with Richard Jewel's lawyers and start planning lawsuits pronto.

you think the 84 year old mom bought that million dollar home in Tucson.
of course Savannah was helping her family to buy real estate.
on the true crime police podcasts you can easily see the poor sister and her husband be in on this
but in reality- not likely.
it is pretty easy to find out if the mom had actually been going to church- or was doing livestreams due to her physical condition. whoever called in the "tip" to the police is likely in on the crime
