Yeah VAR is always a roll of the dice. They almost always leave it with the call on the field if it's close and they definitely grabbed his jersey even if he flopped after that

Young didn't sell the shirt pull. He sold the bump by Maguire, which wasn't a penalty and just a dive. That's why no penalty.

Simulation is the act of deceiving the referee. If you think Young tricked you into calling a PK that should not have been given, it's simulation.
But yeah I agree. In the EPL they aren't calling that. I'm kind of shocked they overturned it. It's not like it's no contact. There was a shirt pull. But make no mistake. Young was doing a swan dive that the shirt pull could never make happen.
They aren't going to give it because there was forcible contact. Not everything is either-or. There wasn't enough contact for a penalty because he shouldn't have gone down. But at the same time, there was contact enough to not be able to definitively say there was a dive. I think no call was the right call in this situation.
Also, I don't think VAR can give yellow cards.

Once you go look at the monitor for one reason you can punish anything you see. You can't go it for a possible YC offense alone unless it's to upgrade it or if it involves a PK.

The club lost 14.5m hiring and then firing EtH and Ashworth within 6 months. Really basic, unforced errors that doesn't even include whatever compensation they agree to with Newcastle so that they could hire Ashworth. So they're going to end free lunches in order to recoup about 7% of the money they blew because they horribly ****ed up their first two big footballing decisions.
Maybe stop making horrible footballing decisions if you don't want continuously lose money. Seems like that would be a lot more effective than ending free lunches.
Apparently the "transformation plan" that these firings were a part of bases its balance sheet on the assumption that United qualify for the Europa League. Which is to say that we should all expect more cost saving and transfer pain this summer when United most definitely do not qualify for any European competition let alone the Europa League.
An underrated annoying thing about this season. 44 points gets you 5th place right now. 42 gets you 10th. If United were just slightly less crap, they would actually be in the picture of CL/EL qualification. They don't even have to be good. Or average. Just like...normal levels of crap and yet they can't even do that.

This game is harkening back to peak EtH Chaos Ball when midfields were just a theory or a figment of one's imagination.
I mean, when your tens are Zirkzee and Garnacho and the double pivot is Bruno and Ugarte… you are kind of automatically really only doing a one man midfield, so….
Yeah, I'm not surprised given the lineup and the options but it is funny that both managers started by trying to bring midfield discipline and tempo before eventually just saying "eff it...just kick it and run boys."
