So it's EL or bust. And by bust I mean financially busted and down to having the players do their own laundry.
Playing well enough to deservedly win but losing on penalties to Fulham at home is probably a top 5 result this season.

Maguire and Ugarte are going to miss the game on Thursday. Dorgu being able to play in EL makes covering for Maguire a little easier (De Ligt in the center, Mazaroui and Yoro either side, Dorgu and Dalot on the weeknds.
That midfield though is just going to be full on vibes. Ugarte is the only one who can cover any ground. Collyer is available again, but doubt he'll start after being out for so long.

Zirkzee with an incredible piece of skill to spring Dorgu who plays a very dangerous cross that some Hojlund can't get a touch on and Garnacho can't even force a save despite having all day from 5 yards out.
Even when we do manage to put something dangerous together with a 2-3 good passes, the finishing is just never there.

Sociedad has done nothing since I started watching so of course they get a penalty from a careless Bruno arm.
Every player who was trying to play that ball had there arm in that same position. Every one of them. And it did nothing to the play. So a play with an xG of basically 0.00 turns into a goal.

We have a few players that are running out their high contracts. Unfortunately most of them are starting today (the ones that aren't hurt, anyway).
Edit: I'm not sure it isn't the right call, though; this game doesn't actually matter much except for pride and rivalry, but that is enough for a crowd to remember and hold it against a youth. So playing the aging out failures probably is the right call long term.
