I don't think Champ becomes a 40% shooter, but I think Carter might.

Castle was a 38% C&S shooter last year (including playoffs.) I think that will be 100% of his 3pt shot diet this year. Also he shot over 40% when Fox fed him. Maybe 45%. It was ridiculous.

Harper shot 40% on C&S threes in the regular season.

Fox shot 38% on C&S in the regular season. Shockingly he actually shot 37% on pullups in the playoffs, but only 21% on C&S.

A big part of our team growth is going to be be shot diet. We need to take better shots and for all three guards, it means not pulling the trigger on pullups and step backs very often.

But I really hope we get a rotational PF like Wade to push Barnes back to 3rd string.

Thanks, Marc. Sources say the Spurs may sign ONE of the very few free agent PFs. Great intel.

I like Mamu too. But if I remember correctly, he left the Spurs for a bigger role. I think he would play limited minutes on this team. Also, while he can provide an offensive spark, I think he'd be played off the floor in the playoffs with his limited defensive ability.

You might be right. He tries hard though. Seton Hall legend

Yeah, he would be my #1 choice. The problem is he is 34 and I would be worried he falls off a cliff like HBarnes did. But he played really good defense last year, he's a great shooter from the top of the arc (as opposed to corner merchants like Collins) and he brings a lot more savvy and toughness than Collins or Rui.

I would really only want Tobias on a 1y deal with 1Y team option similar to what I said about Kristaps.

Second option is Dean Wade. Remember what Brian Wright said about the draft. He has a type. Big, athletic defenders. That's Wade. Wade is also a way better top of the arc shooter (36%) than Rui (27%) or Collins (26%.) Why that matters is that is where you set up the pick and roll actions. Wade can pop. Rui and Collins can't. Collins would be a better roll man

My third option is Kenrich. Great locker room guy, good shooter. Will be able to chew some minutes and not afraid to do the dirty work. Plus steal OKC's soul.

I do love Mamu and he is obviously a culture fit, but his defense is still buns. Also, Wemby+Mamu minutes last year were AWFUL.

Still like Thybulle as a backup wing. Wouldn't mind taking a roll on Dieng.

I don't think the Spurs get involved in John Collins or Rui discussions.

Yeah, all that is correct. Spurs offered him the same contract as Toronto, but Toronto offered him more minutes. He made the most of it, but his defense still sucks and his minutes+Wemby sucked when he was here.

Love the guy, but doubt he comes back to be our 13th man.

JQ on summer league roster

There's something magical about summer league, it always unearths quality like a name like Igor Milicic, Jr. being a guard at 6'10" 220.

I wonder what his hometown of Tennessee, Croatia is like during the summer.

Question: what happened to all of the "bigs" that were clamoring to play alongside Wemby? Did our draft strategy change that narrative?

With Lebron telling the Lakers he's not going back, I for one (probably the only one) would be happy if he decided to take his talents to South..Park Mall and join the Spurs for a year or two.

We don't really have big roster spots available.

C: Wemby
C: Tarris Reed
C: Luke Kornet
PF/C: Jayden Quintance
PF: Harrison Barnes
SF/PF: Julian Champagnie

So we should add at least one PF so we can bump Julian back to SF where he belongs, but as much as players want to play with Wemby, they also probably want to be able to get minutes.

The bootleg Lebron merch on the southside would be worth all of it.

If that's the market, MLE to wade on a 1 year it is.

Jock getting 14M and Rob getting 15M shows how great a deal Kornet was at 10M declining with only 2 years guaranteed.

I'm sure I'll end up being dead wrong on this, but Rui is maybe my least favorite of the potential PF targets that have been talked about. I've always felt like he should be better than he is, but is missing something mentally to get to his full potential.

Worse rebounder, worst passer, always lost on defense.

He's the best shooter by far but only 28% from top of the arc somehow.

The shooting will help, but often poor effort, defense, rebounding, etc all doesn't make sense

ESPN reporting that Lebron intends to talk with a few teams so maybe its not a foregone conclusion that he's headed to GS. We should throw our hat in the ring at the very least. Adding him has to make us the favorites for next season.

Imagine the pitch to Lebron.

"We want you as our starting power forward. You can half-ass everything all year long. Save your energy. Just hang out and be a leader. Show these guys how to win and take the game over in winning time if you have to.

Do these things and we'll win 70 games and win you another ring."

Never was a fan of going after Durant last year, but I can get on board with LeBron this year. Doubt it happens, but it would be cool.
