DVH has been 8 times and Schloss has been 7…it's pretty close already

Edit: I forgot DVH went twice with Nebraska so he's at 10 actually

Are you talking about a pitching coach that has been to Omaha six times with four different teams and won two national championships, not to mention has been the national assistant coach of the year twice?

Yea he had a bad year in 2023, he also went to Omaha with us the year before that so he wasn't a total bust here either

I was just thinking generally about coaching and performance.

The discussion was specific to Yeskie and someone pointed out how bad our staff was in '23 especially issuing walks. Schloss made his disgust known all season. I remember Schloss making a big deal about an updated approach to pitching instruction when he got Weiner. Schloss wanted an analytics driven coach. A complaint about Weiner is he isn't good with teaching actual pitching grips - which seems to me to be an important part about being a pitching coach. Go figure.

I haven't seen him in MLBs top 250 draft prospects or in any other draft analysis. It sounds like he has a big senior year though so maybe the writers are behind from scouting staffs. It only takes one team to fall in love with his ability.

With the scholarship/NIL changes, I would imagine it's a bit easier to get players to campus. I wouldn't expect to see a ton of prospects turning down 7 figure bonuses, but I would think HSers after the 4 or 5 round are significantly more likely to make it to campus (at least for schools offering full scholarships).

Yeah, my perception of Max is that he excels at (i) identifying quality stuff, (ii) getting pitchers to throw it over the plate by not getting too cute or throwing up meatballs, and (iii) good pitch sequencing.

The biggest thing he did for our 2024 pitching staff was getting Cortez to throw it over the plate. I also thought POS had a good feel for when to change pitchers and didn't ride starters too long (especially on the 3rd time through the order). I was actually quite disappointed Tanner Jones and Justin Lamkin didn't seem to progress much throughout the season.

I have never expected Sdao back at all. The chances of him returning have always been extremely small. ESPN has him as a top 150 prospect.
