Are we still actively looking in the portal? Other teams are still making moves, but we haven't done much at all lately (outside of the Chestnut news of course).

Yeah, what's going on with the roster and all of that.

I've been out of the loop.

I hate not knowing who the team is going to be.

Good grief...I hope so. I absolutely love Chestnut...but if he's the "big get" for our portal haul this year, we are in serious trouble. I would hope that we are fighting for players up until the very deadline.

Have you been paying attention? We have 7 other portal commits outside of Chesnut, and no one said he was the "big get." We have probably the #1 hitter out of the portal with Hacopian - he's probably our biggest get.

I have been paying attention. And despite getting the #1 hitter in the portal, I still hope the coaches are working to pull more talent all the way up until the deadline.

Nothing indicates they aren't and your exasperation seems unwarranted.

Have we had any portal players visit recently?

Are there any names at all that we are interested in?

LSU, Arkansas, Tennessee, and I'm sure others have all had big signings out of the portal in the last few days and they are still going. What are we doing?

Yes, we had a visitor yesterday and another one scheduled tomorrow. But that's Premium content so I won't post the details here.

You also need to wait to see numbers after the draft

If three or 4 dont sign and come back especially on pitching side then you have t have spots

most teams have slowed down on committs but not slowing down on recruiting players but programs have to see roster issues that are very different then in the past

Not exasperated. Just hoping the coaches and players are working as hard as they possibly can all of the time. I'm not saying they aren't...just hoping that they are. The coaches and players are all well compensated employees and...like all good business owners...I am hoping to get the highest possible return on investment from the salaries being paid. It's much more likely to achieve that high ROI if the well compensated employees are working hard, working efficiently, and performing at a high level.

But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:31 (NIV)

LSU also had 8 incoming freshmen, including their top 6 ranked guys, drafted and expected to sign according to Perfect Game. They still have a damn good class even after getting gutted which is crazy, but it opened up plenty of room for transfers.

I haven't seen who else recently committed to the other schools you mentioned, but we are still pursuing a few transfers with a couple known visits happening lately.

I'm not going to get upset with anyone questioning if Earley was ready for this step in his career just yet, but his work ethic has constantly been lauded regardless of the outcome across his career.

Hacopian even said that Earley was the only head coach who came to watch him during summer ball. However things shake out, the results won't be determined by a lack of effort by Earley.

Yeah I think that was pretty universal before the draft. Most teams needed to wait to see who got drafted and where needs opened up as well as the portal players wanting to go somewhere with the right path to play time.

Admittedly, I'm much more cynical about college athletics than I used to be. The constant need to contribute more and more and more money...whether it be to the TMF or for the cost of tickets or for additions to the NIL fund or a new facility capital campaign or for increased parking/concession prices or whatever...has worn me down, especially when the A&M athletics on-field results are often subpar.

I don't mind paying the players and I don't mind paying coaching ridiculous salaries. But if we're going to do that, I want wins...not a bunch of feel good stories, moral victories, and "awww shucks, but at least we're classy and we'll get 'em next time" attitudes.

Everybody wants wins. NIL and Portal changed everything but that doesn't mean you have to pay for anything more than you did before. Nobody is forced to contribute money and tickets are more expensive but that doesn't mean you have to have tickets to every game and can always find deals if you really want to get subscriptions or find other alternative means to be happy besides Aggie athletics

I want us to win and will watch when I don't have anything else going on but I gave up long ago setting my schedule to Aggie sports or honestly sports in general.

Now that a lot of people have moved on, I wonder if we'll finally get some idea of wtf actually happened this last season.

I still don't understand how things were as bad as they were.

Part of it but not all of it. The injuries this team suffered would have made it hard on anyone as HC.

I agree that we had bad injury luck. However, I still strongly believe that a competent coach would have easily made the tournament with our team even with all the injuries. Roster mismanagement, severe player regression, and inexcusable collapses like the Missouri weekend all point to coaching as the major defining issue of the season.

3 for certain. 2 are in negotiations but Ryan think at least 1 of the 2 will make it to school. So max 5 but probably 4.

Lineup looks pretty good if everyone plays up to their abilities. Pitching has potential, and JK should develop them well. Coaching(from the head man) will make or break our season.

We lost Gavin like first series
Sorrell was out most of the year including SEC tournament games
sDAO was out
Stewart was out.
Gavin Kash missed time

I think the coaching issue stems from the mismanagement of the roster, repeated mental lapses, the tendency of the players to appear to quit, and the failure to maximize the (alleged) talent from the (alleged) stud transfers. No doubt injuries were a huge factor - no getting around that. But watching the team do things like make inexplicable baserunning mistakes, seeing them repeatedly have mental lapses in the field (like throwing to the wrong base, ignoring the cutoff man, taking terrible angles in the outfield, etc.), having the coaching staff call for bunts in the SECT when we hadn't been a bunting team all year, and the failure to get the players to QUIT SWINGING FOR THE FENCES ON EVERY SINGLE AT BAT points the finger squarely at coaching malpractice.

But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:31 (NIV)
