My guess - Murder / Not Guilty. Court will allow for Manslaughter to be tacked on to charges. Manslaughter/ Guilty. Considering his age at the time, "time served" in house arrest (which reportedly has been violated multiple times) and good behavior (laughing in advance), he'll get 8 years, an end up serving about 4.

Anyone stating self defense is well, black. And ignorant or glaringly racist. But, race will determine 50% of this case

The justice system in this country is borked.

This is probably accurate. Any black person on the jury means the family won't get justice and they'll be forced to put one on. It's sad, but the truth is most black people will just make excuses for their own instead of taking accountability and doing the right thing.

So, the VICTIM'S family gets 'swatted' 3 TIMES; and the murderer's family raises over $500,000 for his 'defense' (lulz).

And I hope EVERY parent whose child's 'information' was subpoenaed, REJECTED allowing its release.

The whole thing STINKS of bias.

How will she be allowed in the courtroom each day? Has she been given a pass?

Day One of the Karmelo Anthony trial is in the books.

I just left the Collin County courthouse. Today was devoted entirely to jury selection, and no other proceedings took place.

That said, I have quite a few observations from inside the courtroom and some very descriptive scenes to paint from what I witnessed today.

First, I need to grab something to eat and sort through my notes.

Stand by. More updates are coming.

She is allowed in the courtroom, but no phone. So it will be daily summaries

Yep, exactly right.

This country is getting really close to pissing off the silent majority to the point that things start going hot.

Decent folks have had enough.

Has Austin's father filed a civil lawsuit yet for wrongful death or does he have to wait till after the murder trial.

Anthony might beat a murder conviction doubt he can with a civil trial.

It would, at minimum, ensure that any revenue generated from it is entitled to Austin's family. Stop letting Anthony's family monetize their kid's evil.

You can book it. 20 is the max he's getting. Life in prison is what should happen, but in today's world it won't

Still. He will have to make it a number of years in the Prison system. A lifer may just decide his sentence wasn't enough.

He will likely have plenty of inmate protection in prison, if he ends up there. He'll be held up as some sort of hero for bleeding out a high school, athletic star, white boy. Yes, I am fatigued.

i don't think that law applies to anthony's family "selling their story" as long as they are not acting as representative of anthony and sending him the money.

He was a minor when the crime occurred. Pretty sure his parents can and should be named defendants in the civil suit.

his parents aren't subject to the "son of sam" law because they haven't been charged with a crime.

as for a civil case against the parents, extreme long shot. unless they gave him the knife knowing he had a proclivity for stabbing people, that case likely fails.

All they need are one or two blacks on the jury and they'll never get a conviction. If there isn't a black on the jury it'll get thrown out. Or just one dip**** white do-gooder will do the job as well.
I just don't see a conviction out of this.

I can close to guarantee you "beyond a reasonable doubt" a conviction here will never ever be thrown out because there were not black people on the jury.

Obviously, before the evidence is seen no one can say for sure, but I think a conviction is close to certain here.

If there are no blacks on the jury the Judge will get hammered with so many Batson challenges that one may stick or a denial may get reversed. It may be impossible to have a jury with no blacks.

I have wondered about this myself and how it would work.

Recently, I was in an HEB parking lot and this young guy nearly hit me. I put my hands up in the "WTF?" manner. He parks, gets out, and asks me if I have a problem. This guy is big, all muscled up, and probably 30 years younger than me.

So a bit of a verbal altercation ensues and I basically told him he needs to slow down and pay attention. He then tells me I'm lucky he isn't beating my ass right now. My response was roughly "might want to remember what county and state you're in, because yeah, you'd probably kick the sh** out of me, then you're going to jail, and after I win my civil suit you're going to be paying me the rest of your sh***y life". He then flipped me off and walked off.

So in case like that where the guy probably has no money, would a judgement in my favor put the aggressor in a position where some portion of their wages could be garnished (like deadbeat dads)?

BMX Bandit

you wouldn't be able to garnish his wages technically, but could freeze any bank account he put the money in.

The civil judgment against Anthony would at least be non-dischargable in bankruptcy. So you'd at least have a handy cudgel to harass him with for the rest of his life.

There is plenty of precedent for holding parents civilly liable for stuff their minor children have done.

yes, and those cases require the criminal action to be foreseeable. knowing he carried a knife isn't going to be sufficient under the law.

the rule in texas is going to be that a parent's liability "depends on whether the injury to the third party is reasonably foreseeable under the circumstances as evidenced by the parent's knowledge, consent, sanction, or participation in the child's activities."

Little Karmelo is going to have much bigger worries the rest of his life than where his payments for pressing license plates is going.

This disgusting excuse for a person is going down.

Does she struggle with reading? It is clear as day that the organization is called National Organization for Vital Action, not Victims Advocacy. She's holding the flier in her hand.

I dont know anything about the organization, I just thought as a reporter she wouldnt miss something so obvious as that.
i'm sorry i dont laugh at the right times.

She corrected it pretty quick in the comments. X doesn't let you edit a post once it's sent. So she just typed a correction instead of deleting and reposting.

How would you like to be a member of that jury after delivering a "guilty" verdict? Your home and life might not be safe.
