This murder was already sad enough, but it's even worse after reading the witness testimony. It seems that everyone involved (except the killer) was overwhelmingly reasonable during the incident. I thought we might see that the interaction had even a slightly grey area to it, but nope, not even close. I don't know if he was "looking to kill ", as he told one of the coaches immediately afterwards that Austin is "not going to die".

Looking at those social media posts he did, I'd say he was stupidly looking for street cred, and didn't think about what could be ramifications of his actions. That happens alot with some people his age.

I believe he did what he did as some sort of gang initiation.

Yes, there are other options, but the rain and staying in the bleachers where he can still keep up with the event is an easy excuse. They aren't going to Perry Mason him into admitting he was stealing stuff. "It was raining, was just trying to be someplace I could still watch, then these bullies came up and scared me" then he starts blubbering. It's an easy story for even some low IQ dbag to stick to.

I don't think his school had a tent.

He was scheduled to compete that day. The suspended story was a lie that some people ran with much like the lie that Austin had repeatedly bullied Karmello for months leading up to the event.

Withal due, this is stupid to even bring up. He's obviously a ****head, but there's never been even a single hint that it was gang initiation. If so, the prosecutor would've had it as a lead piece of evidence.
