In 2000 these protests changed the electorate enough to drive trumps numbers down and bidens numbers up. That's the only reason these astroturf protests take place; to scare suburban white women into changing their mind about Trump and immigration.

I don't think it will work to that extent this time. It's a better known issue that most people have already decided on one way or another. And these people don't look like Americans. And the bus electorate is smarter than they were 5 years ago.

I really hope that the new DOJ has as many UC's infiltrating these groups as they had with the J6 folks. I hope Bondi and Patel have wiretaps and are piling up sealed indictments on those who are planning and funding this.

The less important reason is that the left will try to use this to claim that Trump violated the Posse Comitatus Act (he didn't). The more important reason is preparedness and logistics. In the 1992 LA riots, the CARNG got a shaky start and for the first couple of days had to rely on the goodwill of Angelinos. The Marines from I MEF came ready and with a lot of useful equipment and food thanks to the capabilities of 1st Force Service Support Group. Kurt Schlicter was a CARNG Guardsman who was mobilized in 1992 and has written about that experience. He tweeted day before yesterday and this reply illustrates why Marines are important reinforcement.
