They are riots, complete with burning, rock throwing, looting, attacks on police and federal agents, and violence against the few political adversaries who dared to confront them with an opposing viewpoint.

They are NOT protesters. They are rioters.

America has crime and riot fatigue. The people want the cities to STOP being the cesspools of lawlessness they have been.

EDIT: Shoutout to Dallas's Mayor who at least upholds the law and allows police to confront the rioters. Only a handful of big cities are in GOP hands and those cities (Miami and Dallas) are quickly able to quell rioters.

How blissfully naive. What they want is irrelevent. When federal deportation officials tried to do their job and arrest illegals, California officials refused to do their jobs and help protect them from the violent mobs. Trump is doing what is necessary to protect federal law enforcement officials and federal property.

The only reason state officials are doing anything right now is because the optics were terrible for them. They may have quelled the rioting somewhat, but don't expect they will do anything to help protect federal officials tasked with detaining and deporting illegals. That is why Trump isn't backing down - he is doing his job, plus the job Newsome and Bragg and other California elected officials refuse to do.

He is NOT abusing those powers. Any claims that he is can be EASILY refuted with FACTS about what the law itself says AND the use of similar powers in history by Lincoln, Wilson, LBJ, Bush 41, and Biden himself pushing an opposite executive policy on the border in obstructing states like Texas.

EDIT: Eisenhower used similar powers too. As did FDR.

I think your expectations are too high. Nothing is going to be resolved on either side as always. Idiots will cause lots of damage, and a small percentage of them will be arrested (with most of those getting a slap) and then it'll cool down and happen again later. There are a tiny number of people on each side who seem to be drooling about a "Please do something bad enough so we can start mowing you down!" moment but that's not going to happen.

We are a nation of laws. The potato you voted for suspended our laws and allowed terrorists and criminals to enter the country. They have no legal right to be here, and this president supports the rule of law.

My understanding of effective protests goes back to MLK and true peaceful protesting. The object is to win the minds of the electorate to effectuate change.

What we are seeing right now is not protesting. It is an attempt at intimidation. Once it moves from a protest to intimidation, the gloves SHOULD come off. This is a riot. Damage is being done, and as has been stated, Law Enforcement cannot back down at this point. If they do - if they leave - then the rioters will only be emboldened to escalate, because they will believe that their intimidation tactics were successful.

The instigators of this had their fun in 2020 with the Summer of Love. But they've spent that political capital. Unfortunately, some heads will have to be knocked in order for them to figure that out.
