Removing EAP for new models blows as I kinda prefer it over FSD. There are a lot more nanny alerts in EAP, but I got annoyed in my last trial with FSD just changing lanes for no reason as well as taking routes I didn't want to take.

My MYP is just about at 40K miles and I'll be needing new tires soon. Guess I don't use my right foot enough.

Does anyone have aftermarket wheels? I'm planning on getting some 18s and thicker sidewall tires, possibly these from TSportLine (wish the copper ones were darker)

I found this interesting/kind of crappy:

Tesla has updated its vehicle configurator in the U.S. to remove its full Autopilot suite from all new Model 3 and Model Y trims. When ordering a new vehicle, the final configuration no longer includes Autosteer, the integral part of the Autopilot package that performs lane centering.

Further looking at encouraging monetizing FSD by removing what are standard capabilities on many vehicles these days.

https://insideevs.com/news/785225/tesla-removes-autopilot-base-models/
Three choices, keep the much worse autopilot feature in and as a result convince owners that FSD isn't going to be any better when it expands to city streets or upgrade autopilot to the FSD build on the highway and give away for free what the majority of people would pay for FSD for, or remove autosteer from future vehicles to induce subscriptions to FSD.

No problem. Here are the results from Gemini:

The Tesla Model 3/Y ownership thread on TexAgs is a classic "battle of the spreadsheets vs. battle of the senses," spanning 23 pages of heated debate between satisfied owners and skeptical critics.
The discussion centers on whether the Model 3 and Model Y are revolutionary daily drivers or "annoying" tech gadgets on wheels. Here is a summary of the key themes:

1. The "Love It or Hate It" Driving Experience
  • The Pros: Owners rave about the instant torque, 060 performance (especially the Performance and Dual Motor models), and the convenience of "one-pedal driving" via regenerative braking. Many find the seats comfortable for long commutes and appreciate the lack of traditional maintenance like oil changes.
  • The Cons: Critics, most notably FIDO98, find the experience "annoying." Common gripes include the lack of physical stalks (on newer models), the heavy feel of the gas pedal during long drives, and the "cheap" feel of interior materials compared to luxury brands like Acura or Audi.
2. The Texas Heat & Infrastructure
  • The Glass Roof: A major point of contention. While owners use the app to pre-cool the car to 65F before entering, critics argue the radiant heat through the glass roof remains uncomfortable in the Texas summer, even with aftermarket sunshades.
  • Charging: The consensus is that home charging is a "game changer," making the car a perfect "around town" commuter. For road trips, the integration of Superchargers at Buc-ee's is frequently cited as the saving grace for EV travel in Texas.
3. Maintenance and Hidden Costs
  • The Tire Tax: Multiple users warned that Teslas "eat tires" due to their weight and high torque, with some reporting replacements as early as 15,00020,000 miles.
  • Insurance & Service: While fuel/electricity costs are low, users noted that insurance premiums can be higher, and Tesla's service centers are often overwhelmed, making parts and repairs a "pain in the ass."
4. Tech vs. Tradition
  • The Minimalist Interior: The debate over the single touchscreen is fierce. Fans love the built-in Spotify, Netflix (for waiting in car lines), and Dashcam/Sentry mode. Detractors hate having to use a screen for basic tasks like adjusting wipers or shifting from Drive to Reverse.
  • Software Updates: Owners appreciate the "car gets better over time" aspect of over-the-air updates, though some find the "Phantom Braking" during Autopilot to be a significant safety concern.

I bought a set of AW21 from Atomic Wheels in 18". They are still in storage since I am waiting for the stock tires to be more worn before replacing. 2024 M3P with 23,399 miles and the stock P-Zeros are at 6mm depth still. Once they are ready to go, I will get some 235/45-18 All Seasons. I am averaging 250 watts per mile right now onmy commute, I am eager to see what the 18s can do.

IMO what's going to happen is you will no longer own the car, and just a subscription to a service that you just schedule pickup on an APP and the car drives you to/from wherever you want to go. Now you have a garage with no cars.

Want to ride share, costs less. Want private but luxury, costs more.

You're car spends 90% of it's time sitting still in your garage or a parking lot. If you think about it, with a fleet of robo-taxi service, there would be about half as many cars needed to get most folks from point A to point B.

Of course, the current road system is not conducive to this at all as you want more lanes going in one direction vs another depending on time of day and with the current fixed curb/barrier system on our roads, this does not work so well.

What's the upgrade from and to? Just googled and see you're on EAP. I've never used that system so hard for me to comment. FAD with HW4 is incredible.

Enhanced autopilot was a $6000 upgrade on a Tesla (Basically navigate on highways with autopilot and autopark/summon features). They're just getting a credit towards FSD for paying $6000 for the EAP software that no longer exists and charging the incremental $2000 to upgrade to full FSD.

Yes, they're shifting to Optimus production for that factory space. I think they'll probably replace X demand with Model Y L variant in the next 12-18 months in North America.

Tesla just isn't a car company, and maybe this will help some see that is the case.

They make cars, of course, but the idea is to make money. Market cap is $1.4 trillion or so right now, and Elon doesn't get paid unless it…grows a lot.

I do think they will wind up producing some more new human-operated cars, it just isn't a focus.
Sea Speed
How long do you want to ignore this user?

Oh I know very well they aren't really a car company, which is why I own a bunch of TSLA, I guess I just didn't see this coming. I've not looked in to the figures or anything, but it's obviously the sales of S and X lag 3 and Y by a significant margin.

This is a risky move gambling the world is going to embrace AI robots in our homes. If they're right the valuation will skyrocket. They aren't hitting the valuation they need making more S and X cars.

There was a household robot that launched for preorder a couple of months back that I assume is going to be not nearly as good as Optimus and I they had an insane amount of orders in the first couple of hours. You will also see these things at factories and the like as well. I don't think humanity will have a choice but to adopt them.
