Maybe I'm missing something but I watched a youtube video and there's nothing special about these cars. You need a rubber puck to put the jack under to lift the car. I guess you would either need another tire or leave the car where it is and get the tire fixed if they don't have a spare.

Only reason I'm asking is that I would sure like to have one but I'm 4.5 hours from the nearest Tesla service center. That may be a deal breaker on other things but not flat tires.

I had a tire kit in my old F150 that I just moved over to my Tesla and picked up a set of the pads and a compact jack. I have them and some other emergency type stuff in the frunk. It's not hard to change/patch a tire on it as long as it's not a blowout and even then I'm sure regular roadside assistance can help out.

Longest trip I've ever taken. 440 miles each way, 880 total. Started off at 95% @ home. One stop in Alabama, then hotel in Meridian, MS. Supercharger a block away. Wifey and I went to Buffalo Wild Wings and had a beer while the Tesla charged.

Drove to McComb, MS in the morning. Funeral, graveside service, talk to family, etc.., then hit the Supercharger in McComb. Hit the Supercharger in Meridian again, then another at the Buccee's in Leeds, AL.

$74.33 in Supercharger costs @ $0.35 per kWh. That plus the initial home charge is about $80 in "gas." So, it was about $0.10 per mile. About the same cost as a fuel-efficient gasser.

More stops than in a gas vehicle, but the older I get the less I mind it. Use the bathroom, stretch your legs. Most stops only said i needed 'six minutes' or "fifteen minutes." We took longer at each stop than required for human needs rather than car needs.

I would definitely trade more stops for self-driving. It was the first time my sister has ridden in a Tesla. I could see the wheels spinning - she is about 7 years older than I am, and self-diving on long trips is a huge plus.

I also let the wife drive for a while. That annoyed me because she was too scared to use self-driving. But she got used to driving the car. I could see the wheels spinning there too. She was running numbers in her head. If we sell the Porsche and her Subaru, maybe I could get a Model Y... She drives way more than I do in Atlanta traffic. (Not to boast, but I could buy one now with cash outright, but that's one reason I love the woman - very frugal.)

For charging at home, the cost is a no brainer. To me, self-driving in Atlanta traffic is a no brainer.

Anyone own two Teslas? I put the charger on the center pole in the garage with this in mind, but it might be annoying switching the charger out for two vehicles every day. But I can run several regular workdays on a single charge.

My wife has a plug-in hybrid and I just switched the Tesla charger between the two cars

Good stuff on the Mississippi trip. Those that dismiss Tesla out of hand don't know what they're missing. For the $50k you pay for a Model Y I'm not sure there's a better vehicle out there. I'm with you on stopping a bit more often. Doesn't bother us a bit.

It really is, guess they wanted to stay close to the delivery/service center on 290 and not start a turf war in the fifth ward with Waymo

I was lucky enough to rent a Tesla in Seattle this past weekend for a lot of driving around Washington this past weekend and it happened to be cheaper to rent vs a gas car. Stopped at 3 superchargers (last was just for returning it) and spent about $50 on charging and drove almost 700 miles. The cheapest gas I saw was $5.19/gallon. I did bring my own adapter and good thing because the car didn't include one for those L2 chargers.

I went to a minor league baseball game that had a L2 free charger that I got from 10% to 65% and then my hotel had a free one that I used to get to 100% before my drive back to Seattle. It didn't have FSD but I used the auto steer and that helped a ton with all the miles.

I'm headed to Seattle next week and was considering a Tesla rental. Good call on remembering to bring the adapter.

Buddy just bought a Model S from 2015. Said the battery is still at about 80% even still. HW0 or HW1 so no self driving. He got it specifically because it was old. Not sure why. It has lifetime Supercharge use, tho. That's cool.

He is a doc with disposable $. He buys a lot of crazy cars, drives them for a while and then sells them. He bought a station wagon that had a supped up Corvette engine. He bought that specifically to blow people off the line at stop lights.

Just saw a funny video in Atlanta. Three Waymo taxis stuck at a flashing red light, blocking traffic. I'll see if I can find the video. Everyone was out of their cars, dumbfounded.

CTS-V wagon? Those are badass, especially w/ a 6 speed.

I got this last year for our double garage and it works great for my Model Y and X. When one plugged in, runs at 40A. When both plugged in and charging each car gets 20A. When both plugged in one charging and one charged to limit, the 40A is split 32A and 8A.

I tried to get 2Tesla Level 2s but Circuit didn't allow it. I was concerned that it may not be enough to fully charge both but I rarely have an issue with having both cars 80% charge in the morning even if both were low.

I have two Teslas and two Tesla chargers. You can configure them together where they share a max amperage draw. It works well and you can adjust which car gets what amount of power from the Tesla app.

Random question, but has anyone else noticed that the lock chime is much quieter after the latest update? I have a custom one in mine, and after the update, you can barely hear it. I tried to amplify the clip itself and then reinstall, and it worked marginally better. It's like they nerfed it or something.

I just don't see how summon is ever going to be particularly useful for me. It's a fun parlor trick, but even if it's 100% accurate I feel like by the time I get my phone out and cal the car I could've made up any difference in time. Maybe if I could just tap a button on my watch it'd be worth it.

I use it at retail stores when I'm checking out. By the time I walk outside it's there. Especially helpful if it's raining.

I just want it to be able to drive up my driveway after I pull the garbage cans up. It can't. Says it's too steep even though it can drive up in FSD just fine.

Another time it wouldn't work in the rain because there was rain. Yeah, rain is the reason I wanted to use it.

The ultra wideband wireless charging is interesting. If they can just get to solid state batteries it is really close to ideal, imho.

Porsche (VW) has a similar/less good system, fwiw. Videos of these parking to charge overnight (or whenever) will be fun to see. They had/have a plan for robotic cleaning as well, so that will be a bit fascinating if they deploy it near term.

The utility/practical attraction of owning a commuter vehicle will drop rapidly if they are correct about their cost/unit etc.

A third-party research company also used the same wireless charging standard to charge at 270 kW for a demonstration
