That's something I don't like about my Boxster but I'm only 54 and not ready to get the Oldsmobuick yet. It's a few inches higher ground clearance so getting in has to be a little better

I'm 55 and the only reason I'd sell my 360 Modena is to upgrade.

Considering ordering a Y, just not sure which I'd prefer the AWD or RWD. Besides the range, acceleration, and $4,000, are there any other differences? Ride comfort?

I have a 2023 S Plaid that was fun and all at first but I can sell it, buy a Y, pocket a few bucks, and have a new car. We already have a wall charger. The Y just seems more practical for us. AWD or RWD?

When I ordered mine the date jumped around a bit. It was a little irritating. It changed 3-4 times over a month, got it July last year

I spent the weekend cleaning the Boxster. Full detail/wax.

I don't think I can part with her. Got space in the barn, just have to clean it out.

How long was it from order date to receipt? Just curious.

The bumped my date back to late August to late September. Boo. They have one very similar near me but it's a demo. All I can think of is all the people raw dogging it. No thanks.

Tesla will update inventory several times a day. Keep checking. Sometimes one you want may have paint, wheels, or interior options offered for free.

There is a rush to get these before the tax credit expires.

Went with 2026 Model Y, RWD back in June. Don't need AWD in Houston. I drive 25-35 miles a day and just plug it into my normal outlet when I get home. It's back to my charged level by the next morning.

Best car I've ever owned. A lot of creature comforts at this price point, that's for sure. Love FSD too. That's $99/month that people don't factor into cost savings, but it's a safer driver than me so I'll take it. Makes the commute to work more relaxing.

Is there not an audio upgrade for the AWD. I've read there is even though it's not mentioned on the Tesla website. How do you suppose ride comfort compares between RWD and AWD?

I'm trying to decide between the 2 this week.

I feel like the ride would be practically the same, with the only exception being the get-it and go that the AWD would have vs the RWD. But my RWD still hauls ass. I dont really think there is much of a need for AWD here in Texas tbh unless you're doing alot of offroad or roadtrips where AWD makes alot more sense dealing with elements.

My RWD drives awesome. Very smooth, very quick. Road noise very quiet too.

Not sure about audio system comparisons but the audio system is fantastic as is.

There is no difference in Model Y RWD and AWD except for the front wheel drive on the AWD. Range is better on RWD because of less motors (357 v 327 miles). Acceleration is better on AWD due to additional motor. AWD 0-60 is 4.6, RWD 0-60 is 5.4.

All other options are the same on Y RWD and AWD including suspension.

There is no stereo upgrade on Y RWD or AWD. They all come with premium audio with 15 speakers, 1 sub, and 1000+ watts.

My referral code that gets you 3 free months of FSD

For anyone thinking of purchasing one and considering FSD, you can wait until after purchase and get it month-to-month before purchasing the lifetime (of the car) subscription. It stays w/ the car when you sell, but sometimes they have offers that allow you to transfer it if you buy a new Tesla.

Wonder when they'll have a Model Y Performance in the new design and if anyone in Houston wants to feel the 3.5 second 0-60, hit me up.

Free 3 months of FSD and I'll get you a beer. I'm close to paying for a hitch from Tesla and anything helps.

How often are you all having to take over for FSD? What types of situations does it struggle with?

When I've had free trials (last one was Fall 2024), I only took over when I wanted to go another route or I didn't like when it was trying to change lanes. I wanted to go 85 in the left on 10 but someone was in front of me, and it tried to change lanes to let the guy on my @ss go past me. F that guy.

I'd say about 1 in every 4 trips.

Really depends on the driving I am doing, but usually if I am taking over its because it doesn't want to merge over in an upcoming turn only lane or tries to turn right during a specific "no right turns on red lights" part.

Other than that, it really does handle the roads well.

FSD struggles with the same things that humans do. Really complicated weird intersections. Conditions with very low visibility. Roads with poorly marked stripes and curbs designating lanes.

1 out of 4 takeovers is way more than my experience and from what I've read. Drove 500 miles round trip last weekend and had zero takeovers. On the highway you can adjust the speed and aggressiveness of lane changes from the steering wheel, and nudge it to change lanes with the turn signal, which I don't count as takeovers.

Finally getting rid of my 22 Model 3 performance. Picking up an M3 in its place. Finally got the wife to agree lol

Pros after 3 years of ownership: Car was quick and fast. FSD/Autosteer great if you spend a lot of time on I-10 or have a long commute. The Tesla sound system is a massive plus.

Cons: Interior quality control was garbage, road noise was too pervasive. My understanding is that the recent refresh has really helped out with these issues though.

Just wanted a change.
