They really are building these things to be the checkered cabs of the 21st century.

No paint shop is wild, even though the look is not my cup of tea. Elon has gone on and on over the years about how/why he sees manufacturing (not just related to TSLA) as vastly more difficult vs. design/tests/other engineering challenges etc.

Random question, but has anyone else noticed that the lock chime is much quieter after the latest update? I have a custom one in mine, and after the update, you can barely hear it. I tried to amplify the clip itself and then reinstall, and it worked marginally better. It's like they nerfed it or something.

I actually feel like mine got louder.

Mine is different volumes and happens at different distances from the cars. Ours is the quack and sometimes it's ultra loud and sometimes it is barely audible. Not sure what the deciding factor in the software is.

Charging starts at around 42:30 in video. I know Tesla's NACS connectors can do 1MW charging, will BYD's expansion of quick charging across Europe, Asia, and Africa start to push Tesla rollout of V4 and newer cabinets, or is CyberCab and Robotaxi service expansion where most of the resources are going

Really don't see a need for anything over 350 kW for cars/crossovers and 500 kW for trucks/SUVs in terms of power. That's ~10 minutes of sustained charging for an 80% charge. 120v 15a at your residence is enough charge for a normal person to go a month or more without having to public charge. Then a single fast charge session gets you back to full in <10 minutes. Three 350 kW chargers is better than 1MW charger. Road trip charging for a 10 minute stop is more than fast enough.

What 1 MW charging does is convince people that "it's just the same as gas" to get them to buy it, but in actual use it's overkill. Wildly unnecessary for Cybercab.

Agree completely. I barely have time to take a whizz and get food/drink at 350 kW. Charger anxiety is the opposite of what people think it is. I have a fear of not being able to do all I need to do before the car gets charged.

I was at the supercharger in Macon, GA last weekend and ordered a coffee and a breakfast sandwich. A doc had come in and ordered 20 breakfast sandwiches for the ER staff. Damn order took forever. Hard to get mad at him, tho. Nice guy. I had to go out and unplug and move the Tesla. Dammit Panera Bread.

I have no fear of running out of charge on a trip. I have been in the most rural parts of Georgia, Alabama and Mississippi and had multiple charging options.

The other thing I will say about long trips is that it has changed my mindset. I used to be a get in the car, go 85 mph and stop for nothing until absolutely necessary. Arrive having to run to the bathroom since I've been holding it four hours. I made it to our house on the coast one time in less than 4 hours in the Porsche - often hitting triple digits. Not a good thing, but I was one of those guys. The Tesla has changed me to just leaving 30 minutes earlier than I would have and not risking speeding tix.

But the tradeoff is better. Tesla drives, I chill. Watch a movie or Aggie sports on rural stretches (baseball last weekend - was freaking awesome). Make a stop every couple of hours, stretch your legs, chill. it's a better experience. I arrive relaxed, not exhausted.

FSD is an amazing tech that is a better option for the older population who are barely above capable drivers.

FSD is great for younger drivers as well. Daughter had multiple accidents in recent years, she leased a Model Y with FSD and loves it. It is safer and her insurance is cheaper.
