The offsides kills a lot of goals in this sport- I understand the rule but it sure causes some issues, especially with the fans at the game that can't see the replays

For me, the only problem is that they didn't show the second touch by the Portuguese defender on the meter. If they show two touches, nobody is going to argue that ruling, but they only showed one touch. Certainly it can measure the faintest of touches, but is it properly synced to the video?
Edit: To add, if the defender made the only touch, the player was onside due to the fact he was onside from the original kick...that's why the defenders touch matters in this context

That's what is odd. if they used the accelerometer why go to the monitor that is purely data driven. I do not see how you can definitively say there was a touch from any view that was showed.

I thought the player was onside when the long cross was sent, but when his teammate #20 supposedly touched it, he'd had drifted to an offside position. It only depended on whether #20 touched it or not and ref says he did. If 20 didn't touch, good onside assist. If 29 touched, the guy with the assist was offside. The Portuguese player touching it didn't matter.

The ball came last off the defenders head. But it has to be a controlled touch. A "deflection" no longer resets offside.
IFAB has gone back and forth on this the last several years. It s more than deflection. It's a controlled play. At the snapshot off the last attacker he was in an offside position. The defender who touched it next didn't count.

Announcers said two and a half minutes elapsed from when the goal was scored to when the ball was put back in play. So theoretically we're playing 12:30 of added time.
