I could have done without the boost of confidence Belgium will draw from winning this game.

So weird watching a sport not knowing how much time is left. Can't seem to get used to it.

It will continue to annoy the **** out of me how Argentina got such an easy ass group and then an easy as quadrant.

I fully expect Cabo to get destroyed by Argentina but it would be the best day if they somehow pull a win.
My assumption is that Q is gonna end up Argentina vs Columbia. Think Columbia has a decent shot.

James is not looking his best. Not going to beat Arg unless he finds his old form.

Having played soccer my entire life, lived in Germany and started playing there. My dad was a TX HS football official for 35 years (white hat crew chief). So I usually have more fair judgments of officiating / refereeing than most.
All that to say I HATE the "extra time" BS. It would be very easy for the referee to signal to stop the clock like in American football, then it starts when the ball is back in play.
Obviously with the hydration breaks all halves are now 48 minutes, so be it. But otherwise have the referee stop the clock, so 1H ends when it hits 45 (or 48) and 90 (or 93). I think that is most fair to the players as well as they can see the time. Also then there is no BS of "well, time is up, I need to blow the whistle, but the losing team has the ball in the other half and is 30 yards away from the goal and they might shoot after the next pass" BS.
There is precedent for this. I attended the men's final 4 at FCD stadium, and this is exactly what happened, the referee stopped the clock as needed and it restarted when the ball was put back in play.
I also think it makes more sense to my American brain for the clock to count down to 0, but it will never change counting up to 45 then to 90.
