He had 8 Ks in 3 innings. Janek was 2-5 with a HR and 7 RBI.

Janek is the new Dumper. There, I said it.

Astros catcher coach was dismissed. Maldy would be a great fit for that position to work his way to bench coach.

I agree. Maybe he could get Diaz back on track.

I loved what Maldy brought to the team in terms of catching, pitcher management, and clubhouse presence. I'd take him in a heartbeat.

Per LockedOnAstros - Houston signs RP Nate Pearson (age 29) to a 1 year deal.

While he has only started 6 games out of 123 for his career, it is believed the Astros are going to try and make him a starter.

156.2 total innings, 5.17 ERA, 160 K, 74 BB, .255 avg, 1.45 WHiP

Didn't Ketch say the Astros wanted him? Would probably be cheaper than Mackenzie Gore

Not very common for college coach to become mlb manager. Looks like Pat Murphy was the last, but he was also in MiLB for awhile.

Vitello in the MLB will either be great or a colossal failure. I don't think he's a good fit there.

I'd imagine in about 3 years he's back on the job market

Yeah. His schtick won't go over well in MLB.

Maybe not, but the players are getting younger and younger, or rather more from this mold of high energy bordering on arrogance. More bat flips and all that.

I thought his schtick is what everyone wanted Espada to do more of? Which is it?

Vitello's schtick is he's a loudmouth meathead who has very good asst coaches. I just don't see that playing well with pros over 162 games. He is Boone but without an off switch. Maybe I'll be wrong.

Vitello also has no pro experience unless I'm missing something

They only have a salary of $700MM. They still have $300MM left to go.

Get tucker to agree to $450 MM/10 years with $420MM deferred and is a$3MM/yr. Then they have plenty of room to sign three other FA plus the best 2 Japanese players.

I see nothing to stop that.

Be serious…Tucker is the last player in the league who would take deferred money

This is why nothing will happen. I hate it, even if it means "growth" for the "sport"

Playoff memories don't get much better than October 19th, kids.

2005: CELEBRATE! For the first time in 44 seasons, Houston is champion of the National League! Behind series MVP Roy Oswalt, the Astros claim the N.L.C.S. with a 5-1 triumph in St. Louis

2019: CELEBRATE AGAIN! After a two-run homer ties A.L.C.S. Game 6 in the top of the ninth, Jose Altuve wins the series in the bottom of the ninth with a two-run walk-off homer for a 6-4 triumph over the Yankees, giving the Astros their second American League pennant in three years. Altuve is named the Series MVP. Yuli Gurriel adds a three-run homer.

2021: Down 2-1 in the A.L.C.S. and on the road, the Astros get off the mat in Boston to even the series. Jose Altuve ties the contest at 2-2 with an eighth-inning bomb. Next, Houston explodes for seven runs in the ninth for a 9-2 triumph. Jason Castro's RBI pinch-hit single opens the floodgates.

The heroics of Jason Castro in this game cannot be undersold!

2022: Three Astros homer while Justin Verlander fans eleven in a 4-2 victory over the Yankees in Game One of the A.L.C.S. Yuli Gurriel, Chas McCormick and Jeremy Pena take New York pitchers deep.

Was a sad reminder of no Astro playoffs this year when I went to the UH-Arizona game yesterday and the Daikin Park PA guy was doing the PA at a 40% capacity Big 12 game.

Who is this "everyone" wanting Espada to act like Vitello? Many of us want Joe to stand up for his players, but I don't recall anyone wanting him to be an arrogant jackass. Definitely be more like Dan Campbell instead of a best friend, but that's not being Vitello.

Nice hyperbole, though.
