While I'd be hesitant to sign Framber, he seems like a prime "change of scenery" candidate to return to his more productive self.

Complete opposite actually. Most teams around the league are worried how he'll do adjusting to a new clubhouse, etc.

I don't blame them.

I'm serious when I say I would consider signing Maldonado as a catcher and bench coach and see if he can get Framber's head back together and keep him focused and pointed in the right direction.

There would need to be a massive come to Jesus meeting between Framber and the team, with Framber begging for forgiveness and the team would need to buy his level of remorsefulness.

Get Framber cheaper than his maximum value but get his max value as a player.

It doesn't have to be 6 years. Maybe 3. Prime Framber. He rehabs his image and still gets to hit FA later for a bigger pay day.

I've been to several Arizona Fall League games and they're using the robo umpire. Somewhat surprisingly most of the ball strike calls at games I've been to have been upheld.

No way could I root for him to fail. He did too much good for the hometown team.

I was a nightly commenter there during the early 2010s and loved the community when we were just hoping for some prospects to hit. I think the last comment I left was back in 2015.

It's a radio broadcast - nobody saw her reaction. Unless her commentary or analysis was clearly showing bias, then it's a petty thing to gripe about.

Who thinks strikeouts don't matter? It's why everyone pays more for the high K%, nasty, swing & miss pitchers.

From the pitching side, sure. It feels like on the hitting side teams aren't worried about high strikeouts from batters if they slug. I'm sure there is data to compare strikeout rates over time, and I have no idea if the previous tweet about the Jays' approach is even accurate compared to other teams, as it implies.

Edit; the emphasis on high K pitching could obviously contribute to higher K in batters too.

Blue Jays: 3.77 pitches per plate appearance

It isn't just about how many pitches you see, it is about what you do with them. Jays are much better contact hitters than we are and hit for more power when they do make contact.

Strikeouts do matter and yes pitchers have more on the swing and miss side. If you want to hunt a pitch early in the count and try to do damage by all means do it. I just prefer to see a team that looks to put a ball in with 2 strikes. Man on 3rd and less than two outs it is ok to ground out to second and get that run in. We seemed to have forgotten how to try to go the other way a lot this season and just rolled over on one or popped out (if not a K). I don't have any detailed metrics, just what I saw when watching the games.

Watching the Blue Jays hit behind runners to advance them this post season has been an absolute clinic in how it should be done. So many hits to right field to advance runners…. Works way better than ground balls to SS every time the way our hitters do.

100% agree. But many pointed to our low number of pitches seen as an issue. What the Jays show is that good hitters hit. And what the 2025 Astros showed is that rolling out a lineup full of AAA players is not a recipe for success.

Yep. Are you an offense that wants to just pull everything no matter where it's pitched (the Astros), or take what the pitcher gives you and drive it where they aren't

Their situational hitting with runners on or two strikes has been superb, that was the primary point I was trying to make. I may be very wrong but it feels more like approach than physical skill set to me, especially regarding the bottom half of their lineup.

Natural attrition

The only ones to be shown the door by the org were Snitker, Cintron, and the trainer Randall.

These others have left on their own personal decisions.
