Maybe I missed it but why is a play withdrawing considered a tie and not a loss? Seems kind of lame
Hatton is collapsing at the right time. It's like him and Morikawa are fighting to be the short bus king.
This is the dumbest rule I've ever heard of. A tie is good for Europe so they didn't have him play. If a WD was a loss, I bet he would have tried to battle through it somehow. But no reason to try battle it out when you can just take a half point.

I believe it's always been that way with an injury.
Didn't Beau Hossler withdraw in NCAA match play years ago and it counted as an auto loss?
This is why I don't buy the "they don't care stuff".

Agreed, they all could have withdrew and went home with the trophy. Its dumb, you should have to lose the whole point if you can't play.
Wonder what the strokes gained putting are today for Europe vs the 9.55 they mentioned earlier.

If the Euros get that half point, that WD half is going to dominate the discussion moving forward - nvm the fact that the US didn't do enough the first two days.
