There may be something to that, but I think it's more of us feeling the pressure because we are supposed to win. Europe, just like the last Ryder Cup, is playing like the underdog with zero pressure.
If anything, the country club mentality has hurt the US in Ryder Cups. Too much picking guys with "Ryder Cup experience." Pick and play the guys who are hot. Golf is such a streaky sport. If guys are on a heater, play them.
Which is why it's stupid that the US starts counting Ryder Cup points 2 seasons out. We've seen plenty of guys have a great season and then flop the next.
