Massive get, we got our SS and a power stick, plus he would have essily been our best AVG on the team this past year at .375. I imagine that drops a touch moving into the SEC, but im expecting big things!
Our line up looks good on paper (need them to not underperform again). Now need some weekend rotation arms.
Need 1B, backup C, and 17 pitchers.

Tremendous get by the staff, very impressive. We still need a 1B, DH, backup C, and an entire pitching staff though.
So does this imply Kent is officially leaving or has that been stated/announced somewhere and I've totally missed it?
I don't think anything will be "officially" announced until after the draft. But I'd put it at 99% that Kent will not be coming back.90ags said:

I like Kent but he is not a SS. Also very streaky hitter and seems to struggle with that inside pitch. Hope he does well at the next level but I don't think his career will be any better than Trever Werners at the next level.
By the way any pitchers headed to College Station. We should have a great offense next year but uh..... whose gonna pitch?

Yeesh, .913 fielding percentage! I had not seen that stat, but that is scary! Kent had a .948 for comparison.
Hope hes focused on fielding drills from now througj opening day!
Not sure if he will play SS. Maybe 2B, 1B?

Edit: jesus I was looking at his brothers stats on accident. He cannot be our starting SS without serious improvement defensively. He wasn't much better at 3B either. 1B it is man.

He's going to be our everyday SS. That was a condition on his decision and it sounds like we sold him on Pennington's ability to coach up fielding.

Good luck to him but he had ample opprtunity to hit and couldn't get it done. Of course he was part of the group where nobody hit so curious how much it was coaching/strategy and how much it was him.
That condition better have been "you're first in line with improvement, but not guaranteed the job without it" this promising players specific positions **** is stupid and handicaps your team. It's why we saw Kash in LF last season when he was terrible out there.
He also didn't progress any after he first won the catching job. Even when Bear passed him, he didn't put in anything more.
We saw Kash in left field because we wanted him and Binderup in the lineup at the same time... just didnt work out.... QUIT HASHING ON IT

Kash didn't practice at 1B at all last fall. He played LF because that's what he was promised even though he wasnt good at it.

This kid made his debut against Hallmark and the roadrunners going 3 innings with 5 strikeouts and 0 runs allowed. Fastball has gotten up to 98+ mph.
Some good upside for sure and a weekend starting guy that we need.

I always assume they are gone after their junior year and that's a good thing. Means they were productive for us.

Not excited about this at all. Problems seem to follow this kid wherever he goes. The circumstances around his dismissal from the team at Baylor are murky at best. Mitch Thompson is a player's coach which tells me he had no choice. Which is concerning. Kid's reputation in baseball circles isn't good. And his dad is a problem too. I hope this works out but I think it's far from a given.
We have people who know the Baylor coaches well enough to get honest discussions from them before anything happened with recruiting him. I think it's been looked at already and we decided to take him.
The kid may have had the **** scared out of him and will walk the straight and narrow. Plus, Kelly doesn't give off warm and fuzzy vibes. I'm not concerned. If the kid wants to get drafted high and be all SEC then he'll buckle down.

Do you have a link about him being dismissed? Everything I see just says he entered the portal in early June.
