I'm not saying it wasn't checked out beforehand. I'm sure that it was. I'm just saying it's risky because trouble seems to follow this kid around.

I paid for premium and varsity for entirely too long. If I could block people without paying for 1 star, I wouldn't have this one.

Big loss for us, but you've got to imagine the writing was on the wall after the first game of the Bama series. One of the single worst coaching decisions I've ever seen at any level. Can't imagine that was an easy thing for Luke to stomach. I wish him the best at his next stop.

Does he throw too hard for our staff?

Can't imagine he decided to transfer because of one coaching decision in the first game of the first SEC series we played. Especially since he waited this long after the portal opened. But then again, who knows anymore.

Got scared off by our two portal adds and their >6 ERA's (and both coming off injuries and one with apparent character issues).

Agreed, I'm sure another team came to him and offered him something he wanted (scholarship, NIL, starting position) and it was enough for him to hit the portal.

Lot of hand wringing here over Luke Jackson. I agree that I would rather him have stuck it out here, but he has had 3 years here and has yet to carve a consistent role out for himself.

The potential is clearly there, but after completing his RS Sophomore year he hasn't showed any level of consistency. Maybe he was frustrated, but he also has only pitched 26.2 innings total in his time here (8.1 of which in conference play). He very well could be wanting a fresh start to have a better promise of a bigger role.

How many times did Earley throw him in with the bases loaded and no outs usually because another reliever like Frescorn, Earleys pet project that was an abomination until Hoover, made a mess of things. Yes I know Jackson caused is own issues at times but it is alot harder to throw strikes when you trying to chip edges because anything put in play scores a run.

Honestly this team was so bad that outside of Grahovac, Sorrell, and TK I'm not all that concerned about players leaving. I'm sure I'm missing another player or two that we really don't want to lose, but my point remains the same.

Back to back seasons of missing the tournament is unthinkable for a program like A&M. A random down year can be excused, but not two in a row.

Our pitching staff for next year, so far, is looking pretty rough. We had better secure a few more key arms or we'll be getting shelled in 2026.

So by that rationale, a guy gets a pass on control issues bc he had control issues in pressure situations…which arguably is the most important time to have control??

In 3rd year in a program and you throw 97 and havent established any sort of consistency or defined role…I'd say yeah it's an issue.

Would I prefer he stay? Sure bc we need arms and he throws 97 and maybe can figure it out. But to give a guy a pass on struggling to throw strikes bc he was in pressure situations is an odd take. Players typically are judged how they do in pressure situations. Mark that one up as another irrationals Earley criticism "brought pitcher into game in tough situations".

Pretty sure Schloss brought in Evan A in crappy situation after crappy situation and was lights out. Somehow it seems to be possible to throw strikes in the heat of the moment.

That's a fair argument to make, but injuries did play a big part. There is also a strong argument that Earley was at his least amount of knowledge on how to run a program effectively.

This next team, barring some sort of crazy injury luck, will have plenty of enough talent to make the tournament or even possibly obtain a regional host spot. We just need Earley to learn and improve on where he went wrong as the head coach. That is more than possible.
