Saw a a coral snake for my first snake this year. On my walk the following day, I saw this little guy….

Saw a rattlesnake crossing the road on my walk yesterday. Wouldn't have seen him but he rattled on me...

They're out! Y'all be careful.

I'm in Brazil and I was woken up by my wife frantically calling me from back home because there was a snake in our brooding bin with our 16 chicks. Apparently there are only 14 now. Not sure if she killed the snake yet but my daughters got the other chicks out and somehow the snake ended up in the woods now and probably injured. Wife is so scared of snakes.

Well, in that area of the world, she's right to be.

I am in Brazil, she is in SETX. Still have not seen a single venomous snake on our property in over two years no matter how much random crap I flip over looking for them.

Guess the neighbor came and got it. My wife and kids have a deep connection to our chicks for some reason and are really bummed we lost two to the snake. I swear something like this happens every time I leave for work. I will be honest though, not sure I would have let it live since it ate two of our chicks. Had I caught it before it ate anything I would have relocated it like the last massive rat snake we caught in the coop.

Dudes in line to own a couple chicfila franchises and is down here training at the local restaurant while waiting to get assigned his locations. He and his family are staying with their in laws while doing so. 4 kids which is really great considering there are no other kids within a half mile of our home.

Where do you live? Didn't notice his CFA gear until someone mentioned how well he was dressed.

My family used to own 400 acres near Santo. Spent my entire childhood with "watch for snakes" reverberating through my head. Nearly had my life ended by a Western Diamondback at Terlingua at age 5.

My wife called me in a pretty worked up state. She was shopping and when she opened her car door to leave, she saw a snake go up into the engine compartment area from her running board. She wasn't too far from me, so I went over and while I'm trying to decide what to do, the snake comes out of that area and goes up into the door panel, right behind the speaker you can see.

Now I'm really perplexed about what to do, because that's inside the car when you close the door. Call animal control out to see if they have any ideas. Not really. Call the local Toyota dealership to see if they'll pop the door panel if I drive the car over there. Nope. Call a good friend in the car business and he says he'll come out with somebody to see what they can do, but it will be a little bit.

Snake finally decides to make a reappearence, and between me and the animal control officer we're able to corral and capture it. An interesting morning. Wife's ready to go trade the car in right now.

We have something called a diamondback water snake down here in the RGV, and that's what I think it was. Non-venomous but still ugly. Might have gotten pushed up into our garage with all of the flooding we had this past week.

As much as these threads have taught me and made me appreciate snakes over the years, I'm still not driving a car directly next to a door panel known to have a snake in it. Venomous or not.

I wasn't crazy about that option if it came to driving it somewhere to get the issue taken care of, but I was pretty stumped on how we were going to get the snake out of the door panel. Luckily he helped us out. Even when it finally reappeared, it wasn't heading to the ground. It was trying to get back up into the engine compartment or into the car.

I'm no pro, but I don't think that is a diamond back water snake.

Yes, not a DBWS. I think it is a Juvenile Rat Snake but it could be a Juvenile Bull Snake. I am trying to zoom into the picture but can't.

Save it to your computer and zoom in. I think it looks like a rat but certainly see where you're coming from.



By the way, don't use good image search on this one. Or we're both wrong and it's a rattlesnake.

It's not a DBWS. Tail is wrong. Most likely a rat snake.

Yeah that would have been easier... 99% of the time I am on Texags it is on mobile but good to know for future reference.

99% of snakes in weird places are rat snakes. There's even a FB page titled "Rat Snakes in Predicaments".

Came across this guy a few days ago in Parker Co. he was not happy to see me but I only have video of him coiled and rattling, no pics

Agreed as I was scrolling my first thought was some kind of milk snake. Don't ask I might have had a stroke but I swore I saw reddish colors. Lol.

Then saw the rattle and questioned if I should send a message to my doctor.

A lot of rattlesnakes will have a slight tint to their color in certain areas. When I lived around Abilene, in the red clay areas, the rattlesnakes had a red tint.

Obviously looking for Tic-Tacs…
