That's why the whole league sees it, not just Rockets fans.

If you can add a #1 scorer to this team without giving up the core pieces, we become not a contender but the favorite.

This is why you overpay for FVV. He's been there. He always plays hard. He's a leader. Gotta have that guy on the team.
And shows it when it matters.

Who cares if he hits .250 all year with only 10 HR's? If he shows up in the playoffs and hits .400 with 7 HR's in a single series, he's worth it.

It really shows how much baggage there is with the Warriors. Up 15 with 3 minutes left ,I was nervous as hell. I really think someone needs to press them in the backcourt when they roll the ball in. Don't give them all that extra time.

Sideshow Bob will flop and they will give Tari a flagrant 2 for being within 10 feet.

The Warriors were gassed. It honestly felt like they were fouling Adams to save their legs. Jimmy played 22 minutes in the first half and Steph played 20. Steph basically never came off the court in the second half. Hield looked like he was moving in concrete. They seem to have been hit hard by 1 day rest plus how they've tried to play fast.

Their starters took almost the whole second half off in Game 5. They aren't gassed because of recent schedule, they are gassed because they have a very short bench of playoff caliber players, are facing the only other team in the league that can play defense to their standard, can't get anything going in the paint against Senguin and Adams and have been forced to run miles around the 3 pt line against a houding defense, and they are old.

Imagine telling yourself back in October that we would be going to a game 7 vs. Golden State in the playoffs because the Warriors couldn't handle Steven Adams' free throw shooting.

Steph and Jimmy averaged 32 minutes/game in the regular season. They played 23 and 25 in game 3, respectively. It wasn't really a night off for them. They're playing much longer stretches at a time and the intensity is way higher than a typical regular season game. They managed with 2 nights off but doesn't seem to be the case with just 1 night off.

Truly something to behold. In truth, they really can't handle anything other than limiting Senguin's craftiness around the basket by bodying him strongly. Playoff defense in general was something this team had no experience with. Now that they know what it looks like from the best of the teams in the playoffs, I'm actually really interested in seeing what our offense can look like going forward should we win tomorrow. Not sure anyone else has the capability to slow us down like the Warriors have.

Harden finished game 7 as the 14th highest scorer on either team despite playing 35 minutes.

Tony Brothers

All 3 of Nikola Jokic's career ejections are from Brothers.

At least Chris Paul isn't on the roster anymore. Foster T-ed him up with the Clippers for calling him a "TikToker"

Maybe he'll toss Draymond when he predictably starts trash play in the first 5 minutes?

Warriors are desperate, and likely know they are in trouble if this game is played straight up

Is Brothers the one that pretended he didn't know Dillon Brooks' name a couple weeks ago?

Quote:

The man whose legacy is best understood by studying his incredible coaching tree, and whose combination of five titles and the league record for wins puts him on the Mount Rushmore of all-time greats, had a few X's and O's thoughts to share about how Udoka's Rockets could extend the series against this Warriors team that is led by another of Popovich's beloved pupils, Steve Kerr.

"He gave me some pointers," Udoka said with a grin.

Pop, as it turned out, wasn't done coaching just yet. And while Udoka wasn't about to share any details about their tactical discussion, the outcome said it all: Rockets 115, Warriors 107, with Game 7 looming Sunday.

Pop called Udoka before game 6 with some pointers on how to beat Kerr.

That sounds like famous last words of a fool going against Curry Butler and the insane ref crew.

Jeez I hope they win. The NBA playoffs are such a blast when you've got a horse in the race.

And now, because I don't feel like working, our all-time list of Game 7s

1981 WCSF - Rockets 105, Spurs 100 (1-0)
1993 WCSF - Sonics 103, Rockets 100, OT (1-1) - I cried after this game at age 19
1994 WCSF - Rockets 104, Suns 94 (2-1)
1994 NBA Finals - Rockets 94, Knicks 90 - I broke my finger after this game jumping up and down and hitting the ceiling (3-1)
1995 WCSF - Rockets 115, Suns 114 - best game ever? (4-1)
1997 WCSF - Rockets 96, Sonics 91 - I was at this one! (5-1)
2005 WC 1st round - Mavericks 116, Rockets 76 - close call (5-2)
2007 WC 1st round - Jazz 103, Rockets 99 (5-3)
2009 - WCSF - Lakers 89, Rockets 70 (5-4)
2015 - WCSF - Rockets 113, Clippers 100 (6-4)
2018 - WCF - Warriors 101, Rockets 92 (6-5)
2020 - WC 1st round - Rockets 104, Thunder 102 (7-5) - I have no memory of this happening

With a minimum of 10 Games 7s, played the Rockets 7-5 record (.583) is tied for the fourth best in NBA history. The Celtics are 27-10 (.73), the Lakers 16-8 (.667), and the Wizards/Bullets 6-4 (.600).

No Payton is interesting. He's had 2 games with 20+ minutes. Might mean Moody and Hield have to play extra minutes.

Need FVV to continue his torrid shooting. He's been a difference maker with Jalen largely MIA as far as scoring.

Or just be decent at shooting and Green and Brooks show up. Would open the floor and also lead to easier buckets for Turkey

It'll be interesting to see if GS changes their defensive strategy. They've focused on Jalen and FVV has torched them for it (others to a lesser degree as well).

Also, if Jalen wants to be a #1, he has to be able to overcome that type of attention. Unfair comparison, but Steph gets more attention than anyone and still gets his. But to his credit, Jalen has played good defense and contributed in other ways.
