You want whoever it is to be on the road with these guys. Not like Keegan where they're super worried about their own play, but they need to be around the guys during competition weeks. I just don't think that's something Tiger is gonna do. He isn't showing up to tour events to scout just to deal with the media circus that follows him.

Can the US hire Donald?

You say that, but listening to Max the other night we might need someone who will do the equivalent of bringing their pillow.
He talked about how in the week there just isn't any time to do anything they normally do to get ready for a big tournament. He said they basically go out, play 9 or 18 then the bus takes them back. He said Scottie had to kind of put his foot down one of the practice days and say they needed another car to take him and Max back so they could stay and do some putting work and hit balls. I think that was something Stricker was big on, basically just setting it up for the guys to be able to do whatever they normally do instead of running around to every media session or event.

Thoughts on what the US needs to do:

1. Captain they need one yesterday. Donald said in his interview this afternoon that they've been preparing for this for 2 years. For him, that really means 4 years. There's no obvious choice that I can see for the US, but you can't have a guy that also is playing full time.

2. Go all in on the analytics. The little stuff matters. You just can't have the 132 worst combination of players out of 132 play in foursomes. You really really really then can't use that combination twice. You can't miss on what hole Scheffler tees off on. You can't miss this badly on course set up when you're in control.

Now the harder stuff…..

3. The US has a culture problem. They just simply don't care as much as Europe does. I'm sure Scheffler, Xander, Cantlay, etc are upset they lost, but they aren't really going to lose sleep over it. I mean one of those guys didn't wear a hat in protest of not being paid in the last Ryder Cup. The Europeans would do anything to win. They check their egos and are all in on the team. This may take a new crop of players, but Rory once said this was just an exhibition, so your attitude can change.

4. You have to get the best out of your best. You can't have your best player go 1-4 in a two point loss. For some reason, Scheffler crumbles in this event.

5. You have to change the mindset. This isn't stroke play. The Euros slam putts into the back of the hole. The US lag them like it's the US open and par is a good score.

I dont know about us but Europe would dumb to replace Donald. He should be their Captain until they lose to us again.

Will hovland become public enemy #1 on tour now? I think so. It's pretty clear he wasn't hurt when you look at celebration videos. And if he truly was, there would have been reports of it last night. Very smart and very bush league of them to do that.

But I wonder if hovland realizes how much blow back he will get from this? I'm not sure if he will ever live it down. He will be hearing it from fans for the rest of his career at every tournament.

I've always kinda liked him and hate him now.

The irony is that he should never have been Euro captain. SMH.

Stenson was supposed to be the captain in 2023, but they took it away when he went to LIV.
