5 of our 9 starters right now are from California.

But I see Ford is now being able to get some elite kids closer to home in these recruiting-classes still in high school.

Still see rain in the Athens region. Might be a break for 1.5-2 hours early this afternoon but ... still playing the waiting game. Checking here regularly for any updates.

Also looking at teams I would like to see in our regional but probably not because of distance. One of them is Grand Canyon, in Arizona. I have followed them since they were part of the huge upset of UCLA in their regional in 2023. UCLA was the #2 seed overall but lost the first game to Grand Canyon, 3-2, and then lost to Liberty in the next game 2-1. Knocked out of their own regional. Huge shock in the softball world. GCU has had a good program for several years.

GCU's coach has been successful everywhere he has been. A Texas Tech alum, he remains the winningest coach in the history of Texas Tech's softball program.

What is really cool is his first year as a softball coach, before Tech ...

From basketball to softball - what a change! However, his dad is Larry Hays, a long time baseball coach at Tech so that explains a lot !! I wonder how many schools contact him each year for their open softball coaching slots ?!

So it is official? Cancelled and co-champions? Better than them using sooner's higher seed to make them champion.

As suggested if I was Ford I would tell Glasso we'll just plan on playing them in OKC and leave it at that.

Oklahoma and Texas A&M Declared Co-Champions

Due to inclimate weather, the champ game will not be played; the Sooners and the Aggies are 2025 SEC Softball Tournament Co-Champions!

Yesterday's game has 4k views already on an extended replay site I go to all the time. Watch full games in 20-25 minutes.

While it's nice to be crowned Co-champs, I can't imagine these ladies not carrying a chip on their shoulders knowing rainouts could have cost them both the regular season and tournament titles.

Been hanging out at our hotel and watching the rain. Happy that they made the decision. Aggie Co-Champion.

From where we've been to co-champsI'll take it. I'd rather not risk injuries playing in questionable weather. The next tournament is the real prize, and I like our chances.

btw, I live just 60 miles from Athens and it's been raining all day here. And this morning, there was an earthquake in Tennessee that I actually felt at my home.

Now we will just make predictions and guesses about seeding and what teams will play where until the selection show !!

While fighting OU in the final would have been a TREAT for the team and all of us, what a GREAT outcome given we weren't permitted to finish the tournament.

It's going to be nip and tuck as to who is 1 and who is 2 I believe. OU's repeated championships likely sway the committee but they can rebel and give it to us!!!

Not sure who be 1 or 2. But what's more important is who might get matched up with Tech in a SR. Neither of us should but not guessing.

Tech should be a higher seed than 15.

You're welcome! I don't get to make it to many home games because I live in the mid-west, but this time I had family members that wanted to make a family trip of it so we met up and came on over to Athens. We had a great time.

It's going to be interesting to see who gets the top 8 softball seeds. The NCAA is going to want to spread them out geographically but they're going to have some challenges doing that with the SEC strength. Maybe UCLA and Tech get a couple? I thought FSU was a given too, but will they be punished for losing to Clemson?

Oregon & UCLA will both get slots for being West Coast, imo.
Clemson is out regardless of today's score

Committee will have to make some interesting decisions regarding quad 1 and top 25 vs bad losses

Duke, Stanford and Alabama all in the top 16 rpi. Likely 2 won't host to make room for Tech and Oregon. All 5 of those schools should be sweating tonight because each has resume problems

The more I look at Oregon the more I think they shouldn't get to host. Stanford has no home stadium so they can't host either

They won't be a national seed, which is why I said it would be a surprise pick.

They're kind of a wild card as to where they go. They have the million dollar arm and I have to believe they're going to host a regional and be paired with a team the committee feels will offer an intriguing matchup. Oklahoma makes a lot of sense, but I think the Sooners are going to be protected.
