I think she missed the plate. That would be a big call

Man, if they make the right call this poor girl will have nightmares forever.

They just couldn't do it. I guess let them win it on the field.

How would you like to be a Vols fan right now? Such BS. HP ump has one job right there. What a fail.

Appendix G folks.

If I didn't see it, it didn't happen. burn the tape ASAP

Yeah. No one wanted to make that call. Not the ump on the field and not the replay booth.

I see where missing a base is reviewable. I guess the assist part is what is not reviewable.

In the end UCLA did hit the homerun but wow

well, Weekly in the semis. Actually, I am glad to see Tenn. there. The coach is a bada$$ but she stands up for her players. Gotta beat the sips twice to make the finals, but... Pickens vs Kavan for up to 14+ innings....

Noticed UH top hitter is now in the portal

Thanks for posting.

I saw that, too, and since one of the infielders we offered to committed to LSU perhaps our coaches have already contacted her!

Current portal information on players ON3 show the Aggies have made offers to. May be more, no idea. Order of schools are ON3 'prediction' percentages - first is highest prediction. No idea what they base this on, I give it a huge grain of salt, but including it because they show it. I can see Maya (the Strikeout Queen) choosing Bama or OU and maybe tu but only she knows. Perhaps the Davis family rang up Coach Ford and said they would put up X amount on her so go for it! I would be cool with Taylor and Peja at P and Addison at SS plus another one on the list or not but getting Maya would be awesome.

Taylor Pannell (P) : Texas A&M, tu

Sydney Berzon (P) : MS State, OU, Texas A&M, Texas Tech

Peja Goold (P) : Texas A&M, Mizzou, Auburn, Georgia, Clemson, Duke

Maya Johnson (P) : Bama, Arky, OK State, OU, tu, Arizona, Texas A&M

Addison Amaral (SS) : OK State, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, Florida St., Duke

Kylee Edwards (SS) : LSU, Tenn, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Florida (COMMITTED to LSU)

Just saw the Aggies made an offer to the Strikeout Queen. So far it lists these schools making an offer:

Bama
Arky
OU
tu
Arizona
Texas A&M

Who is the Strikeout Queen?
Boozer92
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Maya Johnson. Pitcher from Belmont who led the country in strikeouts

It's the name I give to Maya Johnson, a pitcher from Belmont. Led the nation this year with 366 SO's with only 22 walks issued. And 0 hit by pitch.

Current offers listed in ON3, unknown if this is all offers or not. Classes would be next year. Four spots open. Five offers. One has already committed to LSU.

P - Taylor Pannell, Senior
P - Sydney Berzon, Senior
P - Peja Goold, Senior

SS - Kylee Edwards, Junior (LSU commit)
SS - Addison Amaral, Junior

SS - Jackie Lis, Senior (my replacement for Kylee Edwards)

I mentioned several things yesterday morning. What do the coaches think about Hailey Golden (OF) and Larisa Perez (IF)? What do they think about our pitching staff after this year? What do they think they have at all positions? Noted that we have only six infielders, four with experience. We have six outfielders, only two with any experience (but not a lot). I should have added that I think a team should have double the number of players needed in IF and OF. In other words, should have 8 IF and 6 OF. SOOOO, 2 short IF and none short OF.

P - three offers for P. To me this says a LOT. Grace has not panned out. She was the same at Ole Miss and I thought was a poor grab back then. Sidne was out most of the year but was good at Washington and shows promise. Taylor Brown was redshirted, was awesome on the mound and at the plate in HS, but is an unknown. Freshmen were average in SEC play. We need better than average. The coaches making offers to 3 P is a huge tell, in my opinion. And they are all seniors next year, another tell. Gives the Freshmen another season to learn how to pitch in the SEC. Gives Sidne a (hopefully) full year. And can see what Taylor can do. Can always grab another one or two in next year's portal.

IF - two offers for IF. Note that we have no IF coming in as Freshmen except C Madison Sauni who also lists 1B and 3B. We have six infielders, only four with experience. How does Larisa Perez do in practice? What about Reagan Jones? Making offers to two 'might' say coaches are iffy about Larisa and Reagan being good enough to start (I think Larisa probably better chance than Reagan) but more likely just means they simply need two more IF and let the four battle it out in practice. Note that the two offers are for Juniors, with two years eligibility - might need them for two years. I do not know where Ariel will go but we can talk about that over the Summer and Fall after the roster is set!

OF - no offers known. Just 'might' mean that the coaches think they are OK here. I think Hailey Golden might get the nod next year, along with Frankie and Kelsey. If not, one of the Freshmen. After that, we have Scout and another Freshman. So, 'maybe' the coaches have confidence in what they have.

C - no offers known. Just 'might' mean that the coaches think they are OK here. Also the pickings are slim other than the probably very expensive C from Ohio State. I think they will give DeeDee most time in the Fall. Non-conference play in the Spring will depend on how she and Freshman Madison Sauni do in the Fall but they will probably both get a lot of playing time. If DeeDee's bat can get anywhere close to what it was in HS she might be the starter. If she cannot hit Madison might be the only choice to start - if SHE can hit! Gosh, I hope one of them can! Both would be awesome.

Reminder - Frankie is a UTL and has played at 2B so that's always a choice if needed. Scout or a Freshman can take her place in OF.

I think Scout is going to have to hit her way onto the field. Probably the same goes for catcher.

I agree with Scout and catcher and it makes me wonder again how Hailey Golden has been doing in practice (her hitting). She was her team's Offensive MVP at least two years in HS. She has PR many times in two years. I'm guessing she might be the third outfielder next year but the two freshman might be really good like KK this year!

Since the coaches have not made an offer to an OF'er in the portal it may be that they are satisfied with what they have and what they have seen in games and practice. Note that Frankie's hitting was spotty at times but she'll work it out. Heck, KK's hitting was spotty at times and then she really stepped it up and ended up All-American although a lot of that was her glove!

Gosh, imagine all three starting OF'ers hitting well - would be triple groovy !!

Maya Johnson, the Strikeout Queen, is no longer on the Aggie page at ON3 as receiving an offer. Perhaps she wanted too much or said no thanks but those are just guesses. Still the three pitchers and the one infielder. The other infielder still shows committed to LSU.

Might make room for Brooke Wells, the Houston 1B who recently went into the portal. She's from Round Rock and Coach likes to grab players from Texas. She's also a P. Has great hitting stats but average pitching stats. She would be a Sophomore soooo if we grab her might have a great 1B for three years. If we are also able to get the Junior-to-be SS from Notre Dame we would be 'sitting pretty' in the infield.

Update: I looked on the team pages for the other teams who made offers and she is not on their pages, either. But someone on here who has X or one of those sites might be able to find out what happened. Curious.

ON3 shows Peja Goold, the pitcher I thought would work out really well for us, has committed to MS State. Darn it. The only pitchers left on our offered list is Berzon and Pannell. Pickings are slim after them.

Just saw that too. In light of what we're seeing at the WCWS, we need an ace. Texas Tech may single-handedly win this thing by having one arm.

The transfer portal is an auction house. Programs must win the bidding for elite players to win championships. NIL money is the poison pill for parity. Our program needs very wealthy sugar daddies.

I have mentioned several times that NIL reminds me of the Yankees. For many years they bought the best players in MLB, paying them many times more than what they were making at their old teams to get them to switch teams, and won a ton of championships because of it.

I read an article the other day that the wonderful NCAA is going to try to stop the obvious 'pay for play' deals by setting up a 'clearing house' of sorts to review all NIL deals to try to rule out the obvious 'pay for play' deals. It's going to be a bureaucratic mess. They let the horses out of the barn and now trying to round 'em up. NCAA will never change.

F sip always and forever.

But if this isn't the epitome of buying a championship, nothing is. Absolutely despise what college sports has become. Yes I'm old and antiquated and I don't care. Kiss off.

It IS kind of poetic in a way - OU got beat by a team that did the same thing they do.

They've been doing it before NIL became legal.

Perhaps they'll win the Big 12 Football Championship this this year, then make the CFB Playoff. Tex Ags heads, will explode.

Clearing house is being run by one of the big accounting firms. Their trial indicates most NIL deals with companies would be approved, but most deals with collectives would be denied. That sounds great in theory, but it suggests there is a way to structure a collective agreement that is allowable.

A lot of collectives have been shutting down or being folded into the AD. Part of it is the IRS rules that make non-profit collectives disallowed, part due to the AD needing the pile of cash to do revenue sharing. However, I haven't seen the richer schools folding their collectives into the AD yet.

What is really going to set some schools apart is signing up some big corporate sponsors to do NIL deals with the players rather than rich donors just contributing to a collective.
