Gotta think they are working the trade market. Amari Cooper or Keenan Allen could have been done by now if they wanted them. It's not like either of those guys are coming off Pro Bowl seasons and have much leverage. Unless Stephen is trying to low ball them, which is a possibility.

I like the trade. It's risky, but oddly enough I think we're a step up in culture than Pittsburgh. It's also a contract year for him. You step up and we pay you a nice contract.

Instead of trading for or signing one of those, Jerry again went all in to the bargain bin to pull out a formerly high pick that has been a disappointment thus far. I guess we're saving all this salary cap money so they can pay parsons without getting into Stephen's inheritance?
If you've watched Pickens play I don't think you can say he's been a disappointment. The dude is talented. He has better hands than Dez Bryant and faster. He's had bad QB play at Pittsburgh as well but still went over 1000 yards in 2023. He's a contested catch maniac. I love this trade.

3 of those are washed and old. Metcalf is on a huge deal now. Can't have 2 of those on the roster.
Diggs coming off a yuge injury and starting to age as well… Godwin with injury history.

In what world has Pickens been a disappointment? Dude is super-talented, has produced in an awful offense and is one of the best vertical threats in the league…..and has had no QB. This is a great move IMO and gives us a young, elite WR duo we've been clamoring for the past 2 season.

Every one of those guys is washed. Insanity (TxHunter) is pouting about not getting old guys who have lost a step over Pickens who is still in his prime.

He had a terrible season ending injury that has been so bad to recover from that Tampa drafted a wide receiver in the draft and expect Godwin to start the season on IR. you want to talk about bargain binning, pouting about not getting a guy who might not make it back this season isn't bargain binning. Pickens JUST turned 24 and has all of the ability in the world. I think a change of scenery to a better football culture could do him a world of good. He's risky, but the price we paid is nothing compared to the upside.
I think the conversation with him when he gets here is as simple as "you have talent galore and are in a contract year; go work your ass off, put up numbers with Dak and Ceedee and there's a 15-20 million dollar per year contract waiting for you after next season."

Love Pickens the player and think he's an top end WR2, but do have concerns with anyone Pittsburgh and Mike Tomlin don't want to deal with anymore.
My biggest concern is actually the contract. The Cowboys trading away a 3rd round pick gives Pickens and his agent (same agent as Micah) all the leverage in the world for a new deal since the team won't want lose a guy after a 1-year rental for that draft capital price. Unless the Cowboys have already conceptually agreed to terms on a new deal, which I highly doubt, ownership once again completely screws themselves in the contract department.

Also, people need to stop pretending Pickens is some uniquely volatile personality. He's a typical diva receiver. He has been called out for his effort blocking and route running on a couple occasions, has gotten a few bad unsportsmanlike penalties and put a bad word on his eye black once.
